“A great find in central London!”
Reviewed July 31, 2011

After scouring the 'last minute' websites, I stumbled upon 'The Writers', serviced apartments. Having never stayed in a serviced apartment I was dubious at what to expect.

I was visiting London with my partner and his parents were joining us from the north. I booked a 2 bedroom duplex apartment for £289 for a Saturday night. I received a call from the manager the day after explaining that there had been a small mistake, and that the 2 bedroomed apartment was no longer available - however, he offered my 2 one-bedroomed apartments for the same price.

'The Writers' was easy to find, located within a hundred meters of Liverpool Street station.

I was impressed; the duty manager was very pleasant and checked us in swiftly. The two apartments were immaculate, well designed and apportioned, with fully stocked kitchens, including dishwasher, washing machine, iron and boards. Bathrooms were of a very high quality and furnished with 'The White Company' toiletries. Flat screen tv's in both the lounge and bedroom, and a Sony Playstation and iPod docking hi-fi in the lounge.

Check out at 10am, was a little early compared to hotels, but not an issue, as there is a great breakfast place just to the left of the building called 'The Breakfast Club' - I cannot rate this higher, great food!

All in all, a great apartment with features matching a 4/5 star hotel. Will definitely be staying again when in the City.

This place is so conveniently located and the spaciousness of the apartments was impressive. The staff were superb on both our stays and we would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone. We flew to France through London Stansted airport and it was only a 2 minute walk to the end of the lane and you were in Liverpool Street station and able to catch the express train to Stansted.

These are great apartments, but be aware that the service is unpredictable. We booked and paid for a duplex apartment, which was confirmed. We arrived and were shown to a standard apartment without explanation. When we enquired they said there had been a mistake but nothing could be done. They promised to refund the difference in price the next day.
The apartment wasnt what we had booked, but it was first class. Nothing to fault it at all except unpredictable wireless access.
BUT, it tooks weeks of phone calls and emails to finally get the refund, and the promised discount off a future booking never arrived at all.
Would love to use again, but would be very wary of quality of administration

We booked accommodation at the Minc Spitalfields apartments following less than perfect stays with other, similar apartment groups. We were delighted with our choice and would return without hesitation.

The apartment #26 was secure, stylish and well appointed. Brand new fixtures and fittings were well chosen and in keeping with the decor. Being there on the warmest weekend of the year created some problems: the bedroom upstairs is uncomfortably hot and airless. We struggled to ventilate this room until a fan was provided, making things easier.

Above all, nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and efficient staff, who did their best to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We'd recommend the Minc Spitalfields development without hesitation and look forward to our next visit.

I stayed at Spitalfields for 3 weeks and was in a studio room for the first 2 weeks, then provided with a complimentary upgrade to a Penthouse Suite on my final week. Both rooms were ideally situated, I was in the block overlooking Artillary Lane so even though It was only a stones throw from Bishopsgate/Liverpool St it was very peaceful. The apartments were decorated to a nice standard, bar the odd joinery problem, i.e. sliding bathroom door did not close, and having to put up with an ongoing building site, all in all my visit was favourable. Whilst stated as a studio, the rooms do have a separate bedroom area and provided all the mod cons you'd expect with the added benefit of being spacious. The penthouse consisted of two bedrooms and the master had a skylight which meant you could gaze up at the stars which was stunning. The outside space was also really nice, just ashame it was too cold to enjoy. I hope they don't spoil it by increasing prices by too much once the place is established.
