We arrived in Londan in the wee hours of the morning and met up with Jonnie after refreshing at 10am on Tuesday 12th March. One of our dear friends who is on a working holiday and resides in London recommended a tour with Jonnie to aquaint ourselves with some intriguing history and goings on around old London Town.
We met Jonnie at Embankment Station at 10am and it was freezing!! We were on the go with him til 4pm when we started to drag our feet. Looking back, we really could have kept going into the night finding that we were thoroughly intrigued with is vast knowledge of London. And it wasn't just the typical boringo touristy sites, it was the little things like artists drawing on bits of chewing gum and pointing out things you wouldn't ordinarly notice - like Jonnies personal insite into London.
Everytime we see reporters on the College Green over the road from Parliament, we get all excited as Jonnie took us there and we have a photo as a little momento too. Jonnie takes great photos along the way as well...
We stopped off for a hearty lunch and a couple of pints at the Salisbury which kept us going into the afternoon. We also were shown the oldest bookstore in London - Hatchards where we were able to tick off the purchase of a present for a little 9 year old back home in a couple of Roald Dahl novels.
Anyone visiting London must book a walking tour with Bowl of Chalk... Our 6 hours with Jonnie was one of the highlights of our 5 weeks away!
If ever we get back there, we will certainly look him up!
