“Stunning Statue in front of Buckingham Palace”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

After a long day of walking, it was really nice to sit at the foot of this statue in order to rest our feet and appreciate the beauty of Buckingham Palace. The detail of the statue and the gold atop the statue was absolutely stunning. We even made a wish in the adjoining fountain, it felt incredibly lucky.

“Iconic memorial provides for relaxed contemplation”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

You can’t miss the Queen Victoria Memorial if you are visiting Buckingham Palace. A gold sculpture sits at the pinnacle in the middle of a white marble surround with stairs that invite you to have a seat while admiring the regalia that, on balance of probabilities, your ancestors paid for in one way or another. This is one of London’s best photo ops, situated between the Palace and the Mall, and it remains blissfully free and unencumbered with no stuffy security dude telling you to move it along. Take a load off at no charge and enjoy the royal view.

“Standing guard over Buckingham Palace”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

The Queen Victoria Memorial stands directly across The Mall from Buckingham Palace. The spire recently underwent refurbishment and now once again stands guard over Buck House. It is a great place to just sit and people watch, and it is a prime location to see the changing of the guard at the palace.

“Monument in the shadow of Buckingham Palace”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

The Queen Victoria Monument sits directly across from Buckingham Palace. It had recently undergone refurbishment and proudly stands in the square surrounded by a reflecting pool. It is a great vantage point to watch the changing of the guard or other ceremonial pagentry. We observed articles of trash floating in the pool area, obviously placed by individuals lacking any form of common courtesy and respect for such an historic landmark structure.
