We booked the hotel for new year with friends, we got there, there was room for our friends but not us, even though we had booked in february. We were split and 2 of us got sent to their 'sister' hotel, 5 minutes walk away!!! so a break with our friends was not exactly that! It was the hyde park something hotel that we got sent to, the rooms were basic and definately shabby and in need of fixing. The hotel person just kept telling us when we checked in what a great deal we had had (£75 for the night) and it should have been £200 and we were so lucky, why sell it for that price when they clearly were not happy with us staying there for that. In all honesty it was not worth more than we paid for it. You have to hand your keys in before you go out, and take the chance somebody will be at the 24 hour reception to let you in when you get back - 10 minutes waiting outside at 3am (following the new year fireworks) is not exactly great - its meant to be a 24 hour reception! we were getting ready for bed and the lights blew so we had no lights but there was a lovely alarm right outside our door that beeped all night long (apparently somebody had been smoking in their room - not sure why they could not stop it beeping though) and people ring the door bell at all hours as you are not trusted to take your keys out with you! it was a good location and the fireworks at the london eye were amazing but the hotel let it down - best of all - the hotel sign said they had vacancies but they still split us up from our friends and their children.

We checked into this hotel and after carrying our luggage up three flights of stairs to our room were extremely disappointed! The carpet on the stairs was VERY dirty along with the walls and trim around the doors. The room was very small! After talking to the manager we were told we would be charged one nights lodging if we checked out. We were only in the room for five minutes! I told him the hotel was very dirty and he replied that they are a small hotel? The size of the hotel should not have anything to do with how clean it is? They were also painting and the entire place and there was a very strong odor of fresh paint. We immediately checked out and moved to another hotel on the same street. Don't be fooled by the pictures on their website, they are very misleading!

This hotel is good quality, especially for the price... and it's in a fantastic location. Close to two Metro stations - one being Paddington which has an express train connection to the airport. If you're up for a 30-40 minute walk, you can get to Buckingham Palace easily.

Our room, although small, was more than adequate with a large wardrobe, comfortable bed, desk and ensuite. The room and bathroom was very clean, good water pressure.

The service at the hotel was fantastic, the man on reception was very helpful with providing information on the area. Breakfast was a really good selection and good quality.

I would recommend this hotel to any type of traveller.

The hotel is well located within easy walking distance of Paddington Station and Hyde Park. It is pretty good value for money considering the location. Our room was on the top floor but the hotel staff were very helpful in assisting us with carrying our bags up. They were also very accommodating in allowing us to leave our bags at the hotel after check out and before our flight home. There was no aircon in the room but a fan was provided. The breakfast had a good selection for a budget hotel.

My mum & I stayed here when she came over from Australia for a visit.
The staff at Piccolino were very helpful and friendly, and helped us with our VERY heavy luggage, which alot of hotels didnt bother with!.
We were given a really nice fancy twin room on the 1st floor on short notice.
The room we stayed in was very clean, gorgeous single beds with cream satin headboards and pretty indian/persian bed covers.
It had a seperate shower and toilet and a massive LCD tv!
the only downfall was the continental breakfast, if you could even call it that. It lacked alot of things! we ended up going up the road for breakfast in a cafe it was that poor quality!.
If the breaky was good the hotel would have been perfect.
But I would recommend It for a short stay in Paddington/Bayswater anyway.

The hotel is small (only 17 rooms) but conveniently located near Paddington Station. The staff is very helpfull (Wanted to make a reservation but without PayPal and called them to provide my CC number. Wanted to print out my boarding passes for the flight back. Both things were no problem at all.) The rooms are small but clean with good beds however the water pressure on the 4th floor is a little bit weak (this is my only complain).
Breakfast is provided as a continental breakfast buffet (is ok with toast,yoghourt,jam,coffee,tee,cheese.. you don't expect more in London). Hotel provides free Wi-Fi access. You may leave your bagage there, even if you have checked out.

Notice: The hotel has no elevator and a narrow and quite steep staircase (typical english mansion), therefore it's not suited for people who can't carry their stuff up into their room themselves!

Room Tip: Try to get a room below the 4th floor (not rooms No. 15,16 and 17)

We had big expectations before arriving at the hotel. High score on Trip Advisor, nice pics on the web, what could go wrong, right?...
The first feeling we got when we entered the hotel was that of a place in dire need for renovations. Walls that hadn't been painted in a good while, dirty carpet on the stairs.
The room was no better. Windows with peeling paint, dirty and broken glass, blinds that were not rolling up because the chain that was supposed to be used for that purpose had long ago fell on the heater and nobody bothered to put it back (therefore we had to roll up the blinds by hand and stuff them somehow so that they wouldn't fall back). The other window wouldn't stay open, was kept open with a piece of wood stuck under the window.
The shelf replacing the room table was also peeling. The wardrobe was new, though. We knew that from the fact that the plywood it was made from was not painted yet, and it still had on it the arrows showing probably where the wood was supposed to be cut.
The positives were the bathroom, which was clean and relatively new, and the central location. The receptionist was also very willing to help us.
Conclusion: would never stay here again, would not recommend this hotel to our friends.
