“Good Hotel, and Good Value if Booked Early.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

As with all London hotels, booking early ( via booking sites ), is essential to get a good rate. The Blades is one of the better establishments I have used, the room was not massive, they rarely are, but more than adequate. I was in room six, I had requested a quiet room, six is on the back and was quiet, much appreciated. The room had a double and a single bed ,I would recommend it to anyone looking for this combination. The only drawback is that it was sunny and hot, and due to the hotel's siting, the back gets all the sun so the room can get hot, no aircon. Leave window open and draw curtains to limit the effects. You can't have it all, I prefer the quiet and to compromise on the sun drawback.
Chris, who booked me in and looked after me is very competent and helpful, nothing too much trouble. The only major drawback for me is the lack of a cooked breakfast, which I prefer when I stay in London as it sets me up for the day. Having said that, the buffet continental breakfast was excellent, you could not really fault the selection or quantity for the price, and if you wanted extra tea / coffee, anything, sorted very quickly. Serving staff very friendly and helpful.
The shower water was cold about 5 in the afternoon, which was odd, but as I was hot and needed to cool off, it was not actually a problem for me, must have been some temporary glitch as plenty in the morning! The bed was very good, nice furnishings, room clean and well presented, shower / toilet small, as they all are in London unless you are paying hundreds, was very clean and fulfilled what you need it to do!
Always read and remember the reviews! I did not and got off the underground at Victoria rather than stay on for Pimlico so had to leg it a good distance when Pimlico is no more than 5 minutes away.
Eating tip: There is a Pizza Express round on Moreton Street, turn right on exiting Hotel and it's on the right, excellent service, see my review of this establishment on Trip Advisor.
Drinking Tip: decent pub with good range of beers close to station, can't recall the name.

Overall, as I said this is one of the better hotels at this price range, I will no doubt use it again, I have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers, you will not be disappointed with your stay.

Great location - a quick walk from Pimlico Station and only one station change from Heathrow via the tube! Staff are extremely professional, friendly and helpful. Rooms, though small, had all the necessary amenities. There is no lift but staff were willing to help with luggage.

Overall a very pleasant stay. Value for money.

Hotel is halfway between hotel and B&B. 17 rooms. Turn of century listed building near Pimlico subway. Noise level is very acceptable.

House was reconverted in hotel. Small bathroom was added. Mine was just shower, renovated fairly recently. Good water pressure and fast to get hot water.

No A.C. But was quite ok mid June. Huge windows but need to close them at night as the street is a bit busy.

No elevator. Be prepared to lift your luggages.

Clean room, enough supplies. Double bed was near end of life. The only thing to watch.

Close to major attractions and shopping. Travel time to ExCel a bit long but the Hotel is near attractions. Oxford St just a few stations away.

Most helpful staff. Went over the call of duty to help me arrange departure in the middle of the night, including preparing a breakfast hours before the normal hours.

Chauffeur fare to Heathrow T1 was 30£, which compare to online services. The driver recommended by hotel was in advance. 30 minutes drive to LHR at 4h00 am.

Will definitively return next year for my convention.

We thank this guest for his stay as he was a very lovely person and we really appreciate his staying and we look forward to have him back next year as he already told us. We always try to satisfy every single guest when possible and it is a pleasure to hear the he really appreciated our work. For us reviews are very important as feedback is good for us to make improvements where necessary. We usually hear good reports about the comfort of our beds as the are approximatively 1 year old and disappointed he felt otherwise, but this is a very personal expectation.

Our experience at the Blades Hotel would have been a very good one... nice and strategic location, few meters from the Pimlico tube, walking distance from Victoria Station. Compared with London average, rooms are clean, clear and with some (limited) room for moving around. Breakfast was decent. Very kind personnel (thanks to Antonella and Chris), always ready to help providing advices and information. Now we come to the BUT... shame that the owner decided to renovate the hotel painting doors and walls while guests were inside!!! This showed lack of respect for his guests. Though painting was done during the day (no guests inside the hotel), the terrible smell was emanating all during the night and it was affecting our breathing and our sleeping. We were obliged to sleep with window wide open... Regrettably.

Room Tip: Pay attention as there are rooms without bathroom... ask!

We thank this guest very much for his stay as all the family was very nice and we really appreciate their kind words. We are very surprised to read that they were very annoyed by the painting smell as they didn't tell us and no other guest complained about the smell and we only painted outside the rooms as the hallway takes a lot of battering with the guest luggage and standards have to be maintained. The type of paint used dries very quickly and the smell doesn't usually linger. Every room has private bathroom only one very large family room (sleep 5) has its own private bathroom, close by in the hall, all the rest are en suite. Keeping in mind that is a value driven budget hotel in the the great location of Westminster where we share the same postcode as the Queen, the Cardinal and the Prime minister we are a very good value for money.

Yes, I should have read the fine print and realised that room 1 has a separate bathroom! However the room was very nice and we managed ok. The young couple running the place were excellent and knowledgeable about the local area, and breakfast adequate. We could have spent a lot more but overall we were pretty happy.

Room Tip: Remember room 1 has a well separated bathroom, but is quite large. Choices!

We came in the night and the stuff didnt hasitate to help us. The family room we stayed in was quite large and comfortable, the only thing minus was the private bathroom out of the room. Breakfast was really rich and tasty and from this place wecoukd walk anywhere,it us really close to the center of London. I can recommend and for sure i will come back!
