“Blades Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

Stayed here at Blades Hotel last week - mid Feb 2014 with my family of 5. Stephen really looked after us well. Rooms are clean, tidy and breakfast was good. Staff very friendly and gave us some great tips, as it was our first time in London as a family eg. Take a taxi instead of the tube- its generally cheaper and more comfortable....... Will stay again and will tell friends. Good location.

We never expected a low-price hotel to be so clean and comfortable! The breakfast was standard but a nice bonus for the low price. The staff looked after us, letting us keep our bags in the hotel on our last day so we didn't have to carry them around London (and also let us have a wee before we left! :D). I would recommend this hotel for a city break, we had a great stay.

My husband and I stayed here in 2005 and we loved this place. It was so convenient to everything - we were able to walk from the Blades Hotel to just about all of the major sites. The price was extremely reasonable for London. It was clean and the manager was very friendly. We will be staying here again when we travel to London.

Helpful, welcoming, friendly. Stephen who runs the place is excellent, for example he suggested I move rooms from the fourth floor to the second for the second night making the internet access easier. The breakfast was good. Only slight problem were thin walls (difficult to tackle), I had a neighbour clearly struggling with a terrible cough, but otherwise excellent.

We would like to thank Mr Duncan for his kind review and sorry to hear about his unfortunate experience with another guest coughing. This is the first time this has happened here and hopefully it won`t happen again, what can we do. We would also like to thank him for his recommendation to another guest who booked with us also, and look forward to his return in sunnier days when coughs will be history.

I just spent three days in London and had an excellent experience staying at the Blades hotel.

The Blades in conveniently located just two blocks away from the Pimlico tube station, which is in the Victoria lane, one stop away from Victoria station. From the door of the hotel, you are very close to important locations such as Westminster Abbey, the Big Ben, Trafalgar, St. James Park and several of the London Museums.

Every day I came back really late at night and found the neighborhood safe and quiet and had no issues walking back to the hotel.

The rooms are small but clean and well kept. The staff is incredible friendly.

Other reviews complain that the hotel does not have an elevator. I have to say this is a small price you have to pay to stay in such a nice place for such reasonable rate.

The basement has a small dining room where they serve breakfast. The selections are very good. Only thing is to go down early because it can get crowded and then you may have to wait for a table.

I will stay at the Blades again next time I visit London. No hesitation.

The Blades Hotel is in a great location in Pimlico, itself a great location in London. It is close to public transport; the tube is a short walk and buses run right past the door and it is in a good spot if you like walking. In one direction, it is an easy walk to the embankment and you can keep going along there to the Tate Gallery. You will pass a good pub or two along the way.
The hotel itself is nicely decorated, and seems to have been renovated fairly recently. Our room was very clean, but the bathroom was very, very small. One thing that I am not used to is having to pay extra if you want the sheets or towels changed every day, but apparently that is standard practice according to the star rating of the hotel.
As we were on the top floor, facing the back of the hotel, we had great views over the rooftops and could see the Battersea PowerStation in the distance. The negative to this was that there is no lift and there are many flights of stairs to negotiate, which can be tricky with heavy suitcases. If your trip is a short one, I recommend travelling light.
There is free wifi, though that was not working too well at the start of our stay, but they got onto the problem promptly and it was fixed by the time we left.
Breakfast was included, and the selections offered were fine. The friendly staff were very quick to keep restocking the juices, cereals, yoghurts, breads and cheeses from the buffet. The breakfast room is in the basement, so we had to add a couple of extra flights of stairs in the morning, and quickly learnt to take our coats and bags with us to breakfast, to avoid having to climb up and down again before we went out for the day.

Room Tip: If you want the best views, ask for a room at the back, up high. But do carry too much luggage as th...

I spent two nights at this hotel, the first week end of November. it is more similar to a quality bed&breakfast than a hotel. It is located in a strategic position, 5 minutes walk from Pimlico tube station and 15 minutes walk from Victoria station, useful solution for the Gatwick express train. It is a very nice area, residential and quiet. The hotel has been recently refurbished and it is cleaned and confortable. My room was at the last floor (without lift) with a very nice view. Fitted carpet, new furniture, new bed linen and cleaned bathroom (a bit small). The only flaw were the burned curtains over the radiator. The people at reception are very kind and ready to provide any information about London. The breakfast is basic but plenty.
A good value for money
