Great place to stay if your visiting the Islington or Dalston area, even for Central London, just catch a 38 bus. Clean, with spacious rooms, full English breakfast. Only drawback is if you are wanting to park your car its expensive due to local council parking charges.
Would recommend this Guest House without reservation.

We stayed for 2 nights. Our room was across the road from the main house, in the basement. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs and was spotlessly clean. Our room shared a bathroom with one more room. We also had access to a small sunny garden. Despite being close to a main road and having the window open for ventilation we had 2 very quiet nights sleep.
Breakfast was served in the main house. Good quality food served with a smile. Best sausage I've had in a hotel or B and B for ages.
Bus routes into central London are a short walk away. Buses are much cheaper than the tube and of course you see a lot more!
The only negative was that the cleaner wanted to access our room in the late afternoon whilst we were having a rest. Perhaps a "Do not disturb" sign for the door should be provided?

Room Tip: The rooms across the road from the main house are really quiet - and it's only a 30 second walk to breakfast in the morning.

I enjoyed staying in this family-run B&B. I have found that if you stay a bit out of the central city of wherever you are, you can save money and experiencce more of a residential neighborhood. This B&B is located in Islington, which has gentrified over recent years. The location of the B&B is excellent. It is close to the Overground Line or the Angel tube stop (and you can take many buses along Essex to get closer to the B&B -- I did this at night). The B&B is located in a residential neighborhood and is close to convenience stores and takeaway shops.

The breakfast was excellent and was a good value. My room was not ensuite, but there are many bathrooms and they are very clean and updated. My room was comfortable.

The only downside is that you can hear some noise from adjacent rooms (like talking and TV sounds), so the walls could use some soundproofing. But I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others who are looking for a good value in London.

In 2005 we discovered Kandara through Internet searches. We were in London during the July bombings, having returned to Kandara after several weeks on a cruise . We were welcomed, nurtured and felt cared about by every member of the family on both stays. Kandara is a lovely home, run by a delightful family, and in a very accessible location. The family tradition of welcoming foreigners and making them part of the family is evident from the first contact. We have recommended Kandara to many of our friends over the years. We are finally gettng our chance to return there this summer and can hardly wait. The Pfeiffers from the USA

Room Tip: Rooms were smaller than we had expected, but it didn't matter. There's the whole backyard as well as the lower level to relax in. Everyone in the family is friendly and helpful. We felt as though we belonged from the minute we walked in the door. Sharing the bathrooms not a problem as there are enough to go around only another few steps away. Overlooking rear garden would be our choice.

My husband and I stayed at Kandara for 2 nights earlier this month. The plus side is that the location is great, the rooms are spotlessly clean, breakfast is tasty and plentiful and the hosts are very helpful and pleasant. The down side for us is that our room was small, dated and a bit shabby and not having en suite facilities was a nuisance (I hadn't noticed this minor detail until after I'd booked!). Also the closest toilet was above our room and we could hear too many details... Overall though we had a pleasant stay and I would recommend this guesthouse.

Room Tip: It's a steep climb to the top rooms, no good for people with mobility problems.
