In 2005 we discovered Kandara through Internet searches. We were in London during the July bombings, having returned to Kandara after several weeks on a cruise . We were welcomed, nurtured and felt cared about by every member of the family on both stays. Kandara is a lovely home, run by a delightful family, and in a very accessible location. The family tradition of welcoming foreigners and making them part of the family is evident from the first contact. We have recommended Kandara to many of our friends over the years. We are finally gettng our chance to return there this summer and can hardly wait. The Pfeiffers from the USA

Room Tip: Rooms were smaller than we had expected, but it didn't matter. There's the whole backyard a...

My husband and I stayed at Kandara for 2 nights earlier this month. The plus side is that the location is great, the rooms are spotlessly clean, breakfast is tasty and plentiful and the hosts are very helpful and pleasant. The down side for us is that our room was small, dated and a bit shabby and not having en suite facilities was a nuisance (I hadn't noticed this minor detail until after I'd booked!). Also the closest toilet was above our room and we could hear too many details... Overall though we had a pleasant stay and I would recommend this guesthouse.

Room Tip: It's a steep climb to the top rooms, no good for people with mobility problems.

Ask yourself this question, do I want to be ripped off for the sake of an ensuite or do I want to stay in a clean, comfortable, friendly, B&B in a good, quiet location and share a bathroom? Oh and also NOT get ripped off. This is an excellent guesthouse in trendy Islington — 10 mins by taxi to King's Cross, 25 mins by bus into the West End. The owners have absolutely got it right — making the very best of their resources. There is an optimistic and happy feeling about the place. I would most definitely stay again — I loved it!

Room Tip: I think you'll be happy wherever your room.

Have stayed here 3-4 times over past couple of years. Very quiet area, clean and tidy rooms and very good value for London: single £67 (not en suite). Nice breakfast and very helpful owners. Definitely a place to try.

We have stayed at the Kandara regularly for over ten years and consider it excellent. The rooms are clean and well-decorated, the breakfasts are fresh-cooked and tasty and the Hamon family who run it are friendly and helpful. Recently we had to make an emergency trip to London; they had a room available and we were able to collect the keys at 11.30 p.m.! Not five * only because the rooms have washbasin but not full en suite facilities.

We stayed two nights in Kandara whilst in London for the Olympics. It's only a few minutes walk from Canonbury station,on a quiet, tree lined street,so quiet that our suitcase wheels were heard through an open window in the owner's house opposite, and we were warmly greeted before we even got to the door!We stayed in a ground floor room with wooden shutters to keep out the early morning light. The room was very clean and comfortable and we had two great nights sleep. The breakfast room looked on to the rear garden through patio doors and the breakfast itself was excellent.Singing in the kitchen is not something we'd heard before in a B&B,but it summed up the warmth and friendliness of Kandara. We'd not hesitate to go back if we're in London in the future. An excellent B&B!

We stayed for nearly 2 weeks as we were visitng from Australia and our family lived nearby. It was close to transport and shops. Our bedroom was on the ground floor overlooking the street and we were not disturbed by any road noise. The bedroom was not especially large but had a sink, wardrobe, desk and bedside units with drawers. We did not have any trouble with sharing bathrooms which were modern and clean. My husband found the shower a little small but he is used to a large Aussie one. The family who run the B&B were extremely helpful and friendly. I would certainly recommend this B&B.
