“Amazing flavours”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Ate here with friends back in May, we had the tasting menu. Everything was superb, inventive dishes bursting with flavour. The bar downstairs was a little noisy (getting old) and we were a bit put out that when we asked to finish our drinks downstairs before moving to our table we were told, 'you have to sit now as we take orders in 15 minute blocks). Overall a great experience and looking forward to returning.

“Dabbous is very good but it ain't spectacular”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

Very good food cooked inventively. Nothing new here but for the price it's a bargain. I had to pull some favors to get a table so book way in advance.

“incredibly poncy with no substance”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

An ELEVEN month wait better be a sign of something incredible but Dabbous fell flat. We had the set menu, highlights were the bread (apparently not baked in-house), flavors of the lamb (the meat itself was too fatty & greasy) and the dessert but overall I was underwhelmed. The starter of quarter of a "tomato in its own juice"... what is that about? Service was good. Sting and the Police from their impressive cocktail menu and great company saved the evening. Overpriced and over hyped.

“Worth the wait? nope”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

after waiting months for a reservation we were really excited to finally arrive at Dabbous.
we all opted for the taster menu menu and whilst we couldn't fault the food served to us it did not blow any of us away. perversely the highlight of the meal was the fresh baked, warm bread we received before our first course. packed in a takeaway style bag and served with home-made butter.....delicious.
I would consider a return if only to sample the change in the seasonal menu's but won't bother if i'm forced to make a reservation months in advance.

“Dabbous - Fabbous - not really”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We went to Dabbous as a four and were excited as it's had great reviews. The first thing is that they play piped music really quite loud both in the bar and the restaurant that precludes four people having a table discussion. The other people there were on the whole twenty somethings for whom, perhaps, the conversation is less important. It has a quite cool vibe and some quirky design stuff; a bit industrial with pipe vents etc.

The food was the same as everyone else has said - the pea starter - quite nice and fresh - and the mackerel fish course nice. The lamb dish (could that be a dish - it was so tiny that I have had to come home and feed my husband again!) was only ok.

It seems that the menu has been the same for aeons and that is unacceptable.

Overall, noisy, fairly decent food but nothing that we'd be hurrying back for.

Our friends travelled about 60 miles for this and I was slightly embarrassed.

So, Dabbous, not fabbous, only really average and if you want a nice night out where you can chat to your friends with gorgeous food, this isn't it!

We were sorry to have spent such a relatively large sum of money (around £300 for 4) for an evening that was noisy with food that was a bit silly really.

And having to book 6 months ahead. Pah!
