Great food and really really really good tequila drinks! We took the menu for some 10 pounds and it was really good food! very quick service. The atmosphere is also very nice and the whole design of the place is very welcoming.

“Atmosphere tastier than food”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

Restaurant is tastefully decorated, great buzzing atmosphere and fairly good service however you are pretty much paying for all of this instead of your food. I found the food to be good, but very overpriced for the portion sizes. Wasn't very much on my plate, have certainly had better value for money with similar cuisines elsewhere

“Bustling atmosphere, good service”

Located in the Stratford Westfield shopping centre so busy as expected. Atmosphere was bustling rather than crowded and the service was attentive and speedy despite. Food was excellent as you would expect from Wahacca

“Huge Shame”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

I love Wahaca. The one in Soho is amazing, the one on the Southbank is amazing. They have an incredible atmosphere, great service and brilliant food.

Unfortunately this isn't the case for the Westfield Stratford City branch.

We arrived on a Monday evening, probably around 8pm. The restaurant was busy, but not heaving. We were taken straight to a table and then left. No one came to take our food order or even to take our drinks and nibbles order.

On my past visits to Wahaca's in the centre of London the drinks order has been taken almost immediately along with an explanation of the menu. None of this happened on this visit.

After around 15 mins myself and my girlfriend managed to get the attention of a server who came over to simply say "Yes?!". We explained we hadn't had our order taken at all, and with a sigh she decided to serve us. She had a bad attitude and it was nothing like any other server we've ever had on a visit to Wahaca.

We ordered drinks and nibbles, and then were asked if we were ready to order our main. We decided to order our main straight away just incase no one came back to take the order.

Our server was very short with my girlfriend and made us feel like we weren't welcome in the restaurant. How dare we come in and want to order food!

Once we had ordered our food came relatively quickly, however arrived before our drinks and nibbles so we basically got our entire food and drink order in one go. I know that they serve the food as its cooked, however I'd expect if you order nibbles and drinks they'd hold back on the entire food order until this had been served.

We didn't see any more servers whilst we ate our meal, which as always at Wahaca was extremely tasty. Towards the end of the meal I ordered another drink, however this didn't arrive until we had finished eats, so I drank it whilst paying the bill.

The waiter who took our payment was friendly, why he didn't serve us for the whole meal who knows, this could have been a different review.

Whilst the food was good, I wouldn't return. Wahaca isn't cheap and I've come to expect great service based on numerous visits to other branches in the centre of London where the atmosphere and service is just as good as the food.

So if you want a good Wahaca, stay away from Stratford, get the tube into town and go to Soho or the Southbank restaurants, they are far far better in every way!

“Good quality chain but this is not the best example”
Reviewed November 15, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Wahaca are a steadily growing chain of Mexican street food restaurants founded by the Master Chef winner Thomasina Miers. The environment is always relaxed and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The food comes as on small plates and is ideal for sharing and taking time over. Tacos or Quesadilla are quite small, a couple of mouthfuls, so be sure to order a few plates each. The Wahaca Selection is a good choice if you are not sure what to have but my personal favourite is Chorizo & potato Quesadillas.
Beer or Tequila make the ideal accompaniment to the meal and there is always plenty of water on tap.
Though the food was up to the normal standard, even if it seemed slightly cold, the atmosphere at this branch was quite flat. This could have been the fact it was relatively early in the evening or that it sits outside the main shopping centre. Whatever the reason please don't be put off visiting other Wahacas. The ones in Covent Garden and Canary Wharf are both excellent and lively.
