Great location in knightsbridge, nice atmosphere and decor. Friendly and attentive staff. Quite a focus on upselling - We were not too bothered but it was noted. Bread is brought to the table with nice yoghurty drinks, mineral water poured so before you have asked for anything the bill is racking up. But the food particularly the starters were of high quality and pretty decent wine. On balance while not feeling fleeced it seemed a tad overpriced. So no regrets for sure but don't see myself as rushing back either...

I had a dinner with friends at Baku restaurant recently. The location is perfect as it's between Knightsbridge and Sloane square. The interior is very nice with a very nice bar and atmospheric restaurant. In terms of food we tried traditional Azerbaijani food. The starters and desserts were ok for the standards of a restaurant that is aiming to high reviews but the main course was tasty. We also tasted traditional Georgian wine that was not bad but cannot be compared with French or Italian. We were completely disappointed with the price c.£100 per person especially for a new restaurant that tries to attract people thank establish itself. Will probably go back however as the restaurant has big potential.

After reading the bad review written on trip advisor, I was thinking about cancelling our reservation. I am so glad I didn't.
We started our evening at the beautiful bar on the second floor where we had fun ordering our delicious cocktails on an iPad. The barmen were extremely friendly and professional, they made the experience very enjoyable.
We were then escorted to our table on the first floor. We were offered some Azerbaijani welcome drinks before getting our starters. We shared a mixed kebab platter and a delicious rice and lamb filled pastry. I didn't know what to expect from Azerbaijani food but I was pleasantly surprised.
We finished our meal with the best chocolate fondant I have ever tasted in my life. Heaven!
I definitely recommend this restaurant for the food, the ambiance and its lovely staff from the bar to the lovely French lady who looked after us. We are looking forward to returning very soon.

This is a restaurant with great potential but appalling pretensions. We went with friends who are all techno-junkies, but having the menu on an iPad? Oh please! They weren't using the technology - ie no interface between the menu, the waiter (who wrote down our order on an old-fashioned "pad" - incorrectly as it happened!) and the kitchen. It was just for show, like much else about this restaurant. The food admittedly was good, the grills succulent, and the starters interesting and well prepared, but the service, very welcoming to start ("we aim to please you so you will come back...") failed to deliver anything other than a very negative impression. The waiter forgot some of what we had ordered, and had no recollection when he brought it of what people had ordered; the wine waiter spent several minutes selling us a bottle of wine, only for us to discover this to have been the last bottle when we tried to order a second one, took away a glass with a decent swig remaining in it, sparkling water poured into a glass containing still water etc etc. The live "entertainment" was loud and distracting. The bill was overstated, and when we pointed this out, the corrected, lower, bill was re-presented without apology. We asked for the service charge to be deducted, but no-one came to ask us why or to get feedback. So much for the supposed "we aim to please you"! Will we go back? A resounding "no".
