“Great restaurant”

If you want a good steak in London, do not hesitate to visit this restaurant! They will show you a fresh meat so you can chose what to eat. Beef Carpaccio was perfect! The main course as well I love this restaurant!

“The best place ever I have gone to, to eat steak.”
Reviewed November 19, 2012 via mobile

We were in the area so we tried our luck at getting a table as a walk in as waiting time to reserve a table online was over 2hrs (Saturday evening). We got lucky as there one table for two at our time of asking.

Our great service started with us being shown to our seats & our coats taken for us to be hung up in their cloakroom. We were waited on by Davide who excellent from start to finish. He was very friendly, charming, knowledgeable and doted on us. He introduced himself by explaining to us in great detail what steaks they had whilst showing us some actual pre cooked steaks too. A very nice touch indeed. He left us a board with more steaks to choose from. Wow!! I never knew there was this much to steak eating. There was a lot to take in but we were never rushed and we were able to make our choice in our own good time.

Our orders were promptly taken and delivered and a nice touch was the complimentary bread rolls we were served whilst we waited. Yummy.

The steaks we chose were Nebraska Angus Beef 150 day corn finished fillet and they were delicious. It was cooked to perfection. It was so tender and juicy and easy to cut. The sauces of Bearnaise and Stilton complimented the steaks exquisitely as did the side dishes of garlic mushrooms, hand cut chips and green beans with crispy shallots. The choice of wines available is also very extensive too.

The desserts were also delicious and worth making room for and we finished the meal and a delightful experience off with an strong and aromatic evening coffee.

I would totally recommend visiting Goodman's at Canary Wharf with its lovely views overlooking this area and its relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. I will be returning when I am next in the area.

Such was the quality and quantity of our servings, coupled with the excellent service and atmosphere the bill of over £150 for 2 persons was indeed value for money to us.

“Excellent steaks, great service”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

My husband and I had often just gone in for drinks, but decided to give it a try. We are not big meat eaters, but every so often we like a nice steak, and for that we went elsewhere. Because we knew they did a good steak we daren't try any other. We were not disappointed when we did try it here. Our only regret was not having tried it sooner!
We try different cuts each time, and each time is as good if not better than the last. The staff really know their stuff and each time have recommended a wine that was perfect.
The only slight issue we have is that the restaurant is a little on the cold side. It could do with being a bit warmer. You don't enjoy your experience as much when you have goose bumps!

The bar staff are great, and have always been ready with a smile for us. It also seems a good place to work as the staff always appear happy and enjoying what they do.
We recommend to any one who asks, and anyone who doesn't. The place is always busy, so that in itself speaks volumes.

“eywatering prices but truly wonderful steaks”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

As above eating here is not cheap but this is no Harvester and delivered to table the best steak I have had for many a year. A tip for the less hungry – you can ask to share a steak and this is no problem at all. Craggy Range reds washed it all down well. Only disappointment was the small beer selection. Should do better here.

“Best Steaks in London”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Tucked away in on of Canary Wharf's quieter corners, this branch of Goodman was very busy with a constant flow of Saturday night diners.

Our friendly and efficient waiter took us through the menu and brought us a platter of raw steaks to talk through the different cuts available on the menu and on the "choice cuts" specials board where individual steaks are listed by cut, breed and priced by weight.

The starters (pickled herring for me and tempura prawns for my partner) arrived swiftly, were delicious and amply sized!

And then, the main course arrived. A 400g signature Goodmans corn fed Rib Eye for my partner was delicious. My 550g grass fed Dorset black label bone in rib eye was incredible. Perfectly cooked and juicy. The waiting staff have all been trained to advise on how each cut should be cooked and I reckon its a good idea to take their advice.

We had an array of huge side dishes the highlight of which was the macaroni cheese with truffle sauce. We also had a selection of complementary steak sauces which was a nice touch.

Yes, the steaks are expensive but I think that in this case you really do get what you pay for. The only slightly disappointing note was that the drinks were overpriced even for a central London restaurant but this wasn't the end of the world.
