According to The Economist, Lima is the new Mecca for foodies; Tierra Peru is your Essex Road gateway.
As a global food-fan it is rare that you visit a place and get the feeling of having encountered a new cuisine, but the menu here is innovative with notes of both Spanish and Japanese, the food is delicate and the service is very welcoming.
On our first visit we shared the Jarana platter (for 2) a tasting menu with 6 different dishes from thin strips of raw fish marinated in lime and olive oil (ceviche) and grilled slices of ox heart marinated in a stew of peruvian spices. This was so exquisite that we had to return to this place despite only 9 nights in London. On our second visit, we had scallops, and a flavourful fish soup for starters followed by a quinotto and a risotto with duck cooked in stout and spices.
Tierra Peru is a great, relaxed, friendly and affordable place to start exploring the Peruvian cuisine.
