Review of Swinton Hotel
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 21, 2017
Not worth the price.Made me wonder what I paid for. Poor cleaning, no glass. oldy trash mold and bedsheets. Thick dust and dirt around the doors, frames. Dirty carpets, broken bedside tables.Everything sluggish but with refreshment and good cleaning staff,it would be topclass. Bathroom newly renovated but No glass. Shampoo and soap thrown behind the toilet. No hooks for the towels. Thank you for fresh towels every day. The first day really nice breakfast staff but then really rude. Angry when I wanted breakfast in the room because of full dining room. Works as a last resort but otherwise Never again. So easy to find a good for the same cost.No wounder this hotel has no refound. People would leave

Perfect for a base for exploring London, a 10 minute walk from kings cross and st pancreas.
Not a good choice if you want luxury but cheap and cheerful if your going to be out and about during your visit. Staff were very friendly upon arrival and we were able to choose which floor we wanted our room on. Will be staying here again later in the year.

Room tip: Higher floors are quieter

The location is great, but the road noise is constant all night long. The room is compact & clean and so was the bathroom, but there wasn't a hook in the bathroom to hold the towel. It includes breakfast, but only the toast is hot; everything else is cold cereal or ham.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a single room. The room was extremely small. Only a single bed, a small clothesrack, and a little christ of drawers, and the room was full. The bathroom was "all in one", no separate shower or shower curtain, so if you shower, the toilet and the sink were Soaking wet as well. The door to the bathroom was flaky. Due to all the water, it had swollen up some time in the past, and now, the underside was rotting away. The room was extremely noisy: street noises were not blocked at all. Which made for 2 nights of minimal sleep... Breakfast was very sober. The breakfastroom was very small as well. Croissants in a plastic bag, some buns and cornflakes. No fruit, yoghurt,... Coffee was ok though.
So, the only 2 pro's for this hotel: location close to the station, and the coffee... That's it...

One of the cheaper establishments in central London, however also one of the shabbiest.
Positives included the speed of the Wifi, the efficiency at reception and the proximity to London Kings Cross railway station and underground.
However, the decor is very dated, with evidence of pealing wall paper. The room was very small, with equally small beds. In the bathroom, it took a long time to get hot water. It should also be noted that some of the tiles were dirty. Worse of all, there was an unpleasant smell lingering around the room and hotel.
Breakfast was mediocre, with an unappetising continental buffet. Some of the staff were also busy playing on their phones.
All in all, not what I would expect from a central London establishment.

Obviously this is a budget hotel so don't come expecting the ritz 😂 it's clean, practical and good if your exploring London and just need somewhere to shower and sleep! We had a double room and I have to say the bed was slightly small but it's not too bad. The staff were really helpful and did whatever we asked of them. You can leave your suitcases there for £2.50 a day/bag.
