The Belgraves is not a five star standard. The staff is friendly but rather unexperienced.
We made reservations via Tablet hotels, and thus didn't check out previous comments on Tripadvisor. Normally Tablet makes a great first selection of hotels that we usually totally trust. However on this occasion we would have been better off not blindly trusting.
We requested a room with some extra floor space (for yoga practice) and a high floor (for the view). When we arrived our room was not yet free, so we got another room; not on a high floor, and just enough space to walk around the bed. When we asked to be changed to another room, we had the impression we were asking the world.
Finally, when we got back from lunch, we did get the room we asked for, on a higher floor, with a vertical layout, so more space to do yoga practice, in totally the same room category. Why this seemed such a problem before remains a mystery.

Then it turns out, I won't be able to do my yoga after all, as I use myyogaonline.com; and the Belgraves hotel charges 15£/ day for internet access. That is just out of principle unacceptable. They don't even offer wi-fi in the public areas of the hotel.
Additionally, the room's fumishings are quite cheap. Materials used in the rooms are fake leather, shiny nylons iso silks, etc. Very poor sound isolation. The only thing that was good about the room was the full wooden floor, and of course the little sitting corners in the bay windows.

Dust on all the corners of the furniture, shows a lot on black.

One more thing that I can't help myself from mentioning is the alarm clock. Somehow someone had programmed the alarm to go off every 2hrs after midnight. It took us 2 midnight wake-ups to figure this out. Then we had to actually remove batteries from the alarm clock to make it stop. This I have never rever experienced in more than 20 years of hotel travel around the world.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a 5* experience, London has many better options.

We are quite often in London but most of the time staying with some of our many friends in the City.

For once, we decide to book an hotel for a w-e.

We choose the Belgrave for his convenient location, because it looks special (non conventional) and we are always curious about new hotel.

Our first impression was really good as we had to cancel last minute our trip and the hotel was very kind to accept to postpone our booking to a later date - free of charges..

That was a very nice gesture from them, as we haven't a cancelation insurance in our booking.

We then choose another weekend and when we arrive, our room was not ready - we were a bit earlier than forecast - fair enough.

They offer us another room (same category - premium with king bed) on the sixth floor. That room was a bit disappointing (quite small - no real shower (only a bath/shower) and a airconditioning problem (we couldn't turn it off).
Consequently we ask to have the room we initially booked as soon as it is ready - which they agree to do (the staff was willing to help and gentle but we found that they lack the level of experience that we expected).
Our new room was on the 8th floor, offered a bit more of a "space feeling" and had a beautiful walking shower (all in white marble - italian style - good water pressure) The view was also nice.

There were two main factors that influence our "medium" rating :

- On the first night, for an unknown reason we were awaken by the alarm clock (at around 1 am and then again at around 2 am). None of us did touch that machine so it was obviously already set up like this ! We don't know the reason but found that totally not acceptable. On top of that, sound isolation was quite bad in the sense that you could really hear everything that was happening in the hall.

- The second factor regards the wifi access which was not for free neither in the room, neither in the lobby. We thought that was incredible in 2013 for such a "quality" hotel! We could access internet for 15 pounds for 24hours which is obviously very expensive taking into account that is nearly the price for a month subscription ! We found that is really a wrong calculation to try to get a bit of money out of that service in comparison to the customer dissatisfaction that policy would enhance (if the Hotel manager read that comment he should really think about changing this policy if he wants to make that business work in the long run). The feeling of "trying to get as much money as we can" was reinforced when we saw that the shoe bag provided in the room was 15 pounds if you wanted to take it away (it can happen that you need one once in a while ....this should be complimentary....)

To be totally honest we just stayed the week before in a 5 star hotel in France and we must say that the Belgrave really really suffered from the comparison as the level of quality they offer was well below that the one offered in France.

As a conclusion, we didn't really understand the philosophy of the hotel : wanna be cool, but not really cool (there are more hype hotel in London), not suited for business people (no free wi-fi), not suited for high-end customers (level of quality too low - service not enough professional).
We think serious changes need to be done there and would not recommend that hotel.

We had a sunday night at the Belgraves which turned out to be a great experience. The hotel is just a perfect size the for the staff to be friendly on a more personal level remembering our name etc. The hotel rooms are of good size for london hotels and was spotlessly clean with a well stocked mini bar. The lunch we had and breakfast were very tasty. Overall price wize compared to some more well known 5 star hotels the Belgraves offered good value for money. Only down side a 5-10 min walk to the nearest tube.

We've just spent the weekend at this hotel and it of a very high standard of room quality and service. We had a room on one of the lower floors and everything was perfect. My only gripe, (already dealt with by the restaurant manager) was the quality of the bread at breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. Its midway between Knightsbridge and Sloane Square tube stations or there are taxis right outside the door.

Room Tip: If you need anything and don't want to pay hotel prices for snacks etc., there's a Waitrose...

That was indeed an excellent experience. You can feel the difference from any other top-of-the-art hotel in London. New built, American style and attitude, very polite crew. I was there on a business trip and asked my wife to join me. The combination wouldn't work in any other hotel.

I stayed here with my friend to celebrate her marriage for a night. The service really was excellent. They couldn't have been more helpful and sent us a bottle of champagne to celebrate, which was a very nice touch! I actually live in London and we were just staying for a treat. The location is excellent - a very smart and safe area and close to Sloane Sq and Knightsbridge, which is great for shopping. The rooms are small (but then that's London) but they had everything you could need and good toiletries. We had a nice drink in the hotel bar and I would definitely return for a drink there on another occasion. All in all I thought it was very good and good value when compared to some of the other prices of London hotels.
