Description: The original and still the best! As popular now as the day it opened, Wahaca Covent Garden collides the heat of the Mexican market with all the coolness of London's trendy West End, in an explosion of colour, texture and noise. We love mexican food, and this place serves a very good mexican. The concept is modern and is always full of young people, but at lunch you can avoid the crowds. The prices are moderate and you get more than you paid for. The margaritas are superb.

“Fantastic Mexican street food !”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Wahaca is great as always! The food is fresh and served very promptly by friendly waiters! My favourite dish there is a chicken tinga taquito, which I really recommend and I absolutely love the churos with chocolate! Wahaca has funky decor with day of the dead skulls hanging on the wall vibrating with colour. This restaurant really brings out the mexican atmosphere. It is great for families and friends. I will definitely come again!

“Great Mexican”
Reviewed April 19, 2013 via mobile

Been wanting to try this for an age and finally got my chance. The food was in the main, outstanding - especially the retried beans. The best I've had, and that include the ones I've had in the place, Oaxaca!
The place was very busy - buzzing in-fact and I was happy as a lone diner.
The only let down...? The mojito's need more rum !

“An authentic taste of Mexico”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Let's start by saying that this is Mexican food that reflects food actually cooked in Mexico. It's not Tex Mex or Southwestern Mex, or any American incarnation. ( don't get me wrong, I love all of those as well) This is most obviously a place where friends are meant to meet up and share a food experience. Plates are smallish for the most part, although there is a list of mains, and perfect for sharing. We stuck mostly with tacos, quesadillas, and taquitos and was really impressed with the variations available. All were more-ish, with lovely fresh little corn tortillas a base for the delicious toppings. My only real quibble was with the tortilla chips and salsa. The chips tasted like they came out of a bag from the local supermarket. I come from the US and there chips are almost always kept in big warming drawers and served toasty warm. It makes a huge difference. Think fresh hot popped corn as opposed to popcorn from a bag. Same thing. I also felt the salsa was a bit flat and could have used more spice and a bit more kick of lime. Quibbles do end there though. The margaritas were absolutely spot on, tangy with fresh lime juice and ice cold. Heaven! The place was heaving at 6 pm on a Tuesday night, yet the service was prompt and very friendly. To top it all we ate as much as we could, had 2 beverages each and got out for £78 for 4 people! Great value. Go and have some fun!
