Description: The original and still the best! As popular now as the day it opened, Wahaca Covent Garden collides the heat of the Mexican market with all the coolness of London's trendy West End, in an explosion of colour, texture and noise. Enjoy the funky music and lively surroundings in the bar while you wait to be seated.

My partner and I went to this restaurant for lunch whilst shopping in London. I couldn't believe how many people were queueing up at noon waiting for it to open!

It's a really cool atmosphere, the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and the food is stunning. Really fresh ingredients and unique flavours. Even if you don't like hot food, don't worry, it's not all hot.

We decided to have a mix of small dishes - the pork pibil was our favourite by far. Unusual and proper tasty. The sweet potato bites are cool as well.
One of the best bits? Including a soft drink each, it came to £26 which is pretty good for a Convent Garden restaurant.

We are already planning our next trip and have bought the Wahaca recipe book!

Wahaca is a very busy night time restaurant but if you are with friends and in no hurry and you don't mind waiting quite a long time at the bar then this could be the place for you. Beware, they do not take bookings! Although the mojitos taste good they are a bit of a rip off as they are full of ice . You are better off with a tequila if you wan't local flavour. I would describe the food as exotic and sophisticated tapas. Between three of us we ordered ten items from the street menu and we were satiated but we are not huge eaters. It was fresh, tangy, spicy, exotic, satisfying and light. The wine list is good and our waiter was fantastic. I don't know how these guys keep going with a smile.

I've been here a few times, for lunch and dinner. It's a bustling restaurant, always busy. The food is great, essentially small plates of Mexican inspired dishes. I would recommend ordering 3 dishes each if you are hungry, or maybe 5 dishes between 2.
The cocktails are great too.
If you are looking for a pre-theatre meal this is a great option.

I ate at Wahaca Soho with 5 friends on Saturday, got seated quickly which was a relief at 6.15pm. Our waitress Monika was brilliant and explained the different areas of the menu and the specials. The food was fantastic, I shared a 'Wahaca Selection' with a friend which worked out £19.99 for 2 people, plenty of food and great value for money. The dishes were extremely fresh and hot options available for spicy food fans. We then went to the downstairs bar for wine and cocktails, the bar was buzzing and brilliant DJs. We didn't realize how specious it was! Again the staff were efficient and polite and a great night was had by all. We will DEFINITELY return!

Been twice. Both times a horrible wait for a table in a VERY overcrowded bar (too crowded to reasonably get a drink). High turnover - you feel constantly under time pressure throughout your meal. Food is OK - very much depends on what you have - but is inconsistend and sometimes cold. Staff were not very helpful/friendly. Perhaps might have been better not on a Fri/Sat evening.
