Owner description: Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

“AMAZING”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Saw the evening show on New Years day. The actress who played the sister had an amazing voice and you could listen to her sing over and over and not get sick of it. The acting was a little forced at the beginning and got better as the show went one. The singing (vocals) and various effects made the show. I sang all my favorite Whitney Houston Bodyguard songs. It took me back to when I watched the movie for the first time. The karaoke scene was well done and the "villain" was scary. There was a point the whole audience took a scared breath in. I recommend this musical to all.

“General information”

I have just been on to see the body guard on thr 5/1/13 the show was brill our seats wer,nt suitable for people unsteady on there feet upper circle and as you walk down to your seat be careful not to catch your ankle on the corner of the stair to the row your sitting in also ladies with LONG HAIR tying up into a wot not up might be easy for YOU but PLEASE CONSIDER the person SITTING
BEHIND YOU as they carnt see vey much till you move and they have paid the same as you but anyone who loved the film you will love it but again in the upper circle there was one point at the beginning where Rachel vanished towards the front of the stage so in theory she was underneath you whether on that occasion she had walked to much forward only she will know. But please go and see it as all the cast of 22 all were amazing now looking forward to the Lion King

“Show Excellent theatre maybe a little dated.”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Hi ..... The Bodyguard was a cracking show only disappointment was they change lead roles, both of them on this night, however saying that it was still very good. Theatre was a little dated toilets not great, seats a little uncomfortable....etc .... However the show makes up for this. Tried to take one pic right at the end to post on here. (No flash on) and got nabbed for it. So up to u if u try lol. Show started at 1930 - 2210 ish with a break in between......

Went to the Adelphi to see The Bodyguard as post Christmas treat. Very good production, singing was excellent, theatre was comfortable and roomy with good view of the stage even though we had seats in the back row of the stalls great time had by all.
