Accommodation in London is a series of compromises involving location, price, space, quality and customer experience. The Z hotel in Soho represents one of the best balances of these often conflicting dimensions. Fantastic location for walking to endless attractions in Soho, Covent Garden, St, James, Oxford Street, etc. The rooms are tiny, but clean, well-appointed and cleverly designed to optimise the very small space. Price is reasonable, (for this part of the city), staff are welcoming and helpful.

If you are a little adventurous, and want to step away from undifferentiated global chains and slightly dodgy guest house offerings, wish to be in the heart of this great city, have a sense of fun, then the Z Hotel in Soho is for you. In a lifetime of hotel stays this was a different and fun experience - well worth a visit.

Great location, great staff, clean and luxurious. What more to say?
Just that it's the smallest room I ever staid in. If the window had been round, the room would be like a (smallish) cabin in a ship. No place to put your laptop but in your lap, sitting on your bunk sorry! bed. But well done; even as a card-carrying claustrophobic I had no problem.
Not cheap, but hey, London ain't cheap!

Stayed in a single room on an upper floor. Kind of weird - you had to walk out on the roof to get to the hallway with the room. It was, by far, the smallest room I have ever seen. In fact, it always will be the smallest room because I can not imagine that it is possible to get smaller. But, it was clean and comfortable, and the hotel was really nice. As for the location, if you are looking for drunken obnoxious people, you are in luck. The bars and restaurants in the area are PACKED. I picked the area because I thought it would be nice to stay someplace where I could go out for drinks and eat - and have some life. But, it just wasn't for me. Forget about the idea of a quaint English pub to belly-up to. So, the location for me was not cool. Touristy, loud (all night long) and just simply uncool. I got the breakfast option with the room - probably worth it to include, because I didn't see any better breakfast places around. Breakfast was pre-cooked eggs, pastries, cereals and yogurt. Nothing major. Evenings from 5-8 there is happy hour, so you can have free wine and cheese and bread. A nice thing to start the night off. Overall, I would say there is nothing really "wrong" with the hotel - they make it clear it is small so you really can't complain about that. I guess my disappointment is more with the giant tourist trap that it is stuck in.

Amazing location, have never been to a hotel with friendlier staff, the attitude and personal touch from the staff beats the 5* hotels I have stayed at before in London hands down. Booked as part of a surprise weekend away for my boyfriends birthday. So lovely, clean and quirky. The cheese board and free wine in the evening really tops it off. If i'm ever needing to stay in a hotel in central london again this will definitely be my first choice. I have read the rooms can be quite small but we stayed in one of the queen sized rooms which was absolutely fine for us.

This hotel is fine - yes rooms are tiny but at the £168 room rate I paid and in this location I don't think you can complain
Very friendly staff, efficient check in, I was able to borrow a phone charger which was a life saver as I forgot mine!
Room was comfortable, clean had fast free wifi, huge flatscreen with all freeview and some sky channels ( including movies) and tea and coffee making facilities. I was worried re noise as my room was right over a busy street but it was fine.
Cafe on ground floor is lovely (I had the cheese plate the evening I arrived which was huge!)
Also a very nice open air seating area on 3rd floor which I imagine would be great in summer
All in all would recommend and will use again

Superb location and delightful and helpful staff. Complimentary breakfast and late afternoon/early evening wine and cheese. Rooms are indeed tiny, with barely enough space for your luggage, so no where you want to spending a lot of your leisure time...and that's good, because you are in the heart of Soho. Rooms are reasonably priced given that it's London. I'm sure we'll be returning to The Z Hotel on our next visit to London.

Room Tip: Go for the Queen!

The staff were really friendly here and the hotel is in a great location. You can get to lots of places on foot from here...not far from covent garden, regent street, etc. and soho is a fascinating place for people watching.
The room is sold as small and there's not much room for much else other than the bed, although the shower room is surprisingly spacious. There are hooks to hang coats on but not enough coat hangers to hang your clothes up with. There was a hairdrier and soap and shower gel provided.
Towels were nice and bed was quite comfy.
The room we were in...204 I think...was noisy with traffic noise. Maybe it would be a good option to take a room with no window which was cheaper and probably would be quieter. There wasn't much of a view as the windows were filthy and the curtains, which should have worked on a pull system, had been pulled off the hooks and didn't close properly. Take earplugs!
The bathroom has a frosted glass wall and door which doesn't offer any real privacy. There is nowhere to hang towels up even though plenty of space in there. Make sure you're sharing with someone you have no secrets from!
We didn't get chance to take advantage of the cheese and biscuits on offer but thought this is great for guests if you get chance. The cafe area is quite small but cosy.
There are some outdoor areas on upper levels with seating and a BBQ but it was freezing so nobody was using this area except for a smoke.
After check-in they kept our bags at reception for us for the rest of the day with no charge. That is a great service and we really appreciated it.

Room Tip: Maybe try an internal room with no window...it might be quieter for a better night's sleep.
