Excellent option if you are a modern and active visitor; and are not planning to get to your room for more than some sleeping hours.

Very small rooms (smallest ever), but also very clean and the comfort assured.

Poor breakfast in front of a very good service.

Great location for every movement in London.

I would definetly recommend the hotel for a young couple or a standard alone visitor.

Room Tip: Higher floors, with window and the bigger you can afford

Just returned with my husband from a nights stay in London as a gift from our children. They had booked us into the Z hotel and it was great. Very smart trendy room though it was small great for a few nights stay and it was lovely and warm - it was freezing out. The complimentary cheese grapes crackers bread and wine were absoloutely spot on. Would definately reccommend this to anyone going to London as its in a prime spot for theatres restaurants and pubs. Cant wait to go back. The only reason I have given the room 4 stars rather than 5 was only because of the size of the room and lack of storage space otherwise everything else is spot on. Loved it.

My husband and I stayed here this month (January 2013). We got the an inside room. It was insanely small.
If you're coming from Continental Europe you don't have to worry about a converter. They had both UK and standard European outlets. A hair dryer was provided.
This hotel is in the West End, so if you're looking for shows, this is the place to be. "Singin in the Rain" was literally across the alley.
The workers were VERY accommodating. We asked about things to do and where to eat and loved their recommendations.
The real kicker of this place is every day from 5-9 pm they serve free wine and cheese. Yes, FREE. If you like red I'd suggest the Italian, as the French choice wasn't very good.
All in all, a great stay.

Stayed here for a family birthday celebration (3 of us had birthdays in that week including our mums 60th):- We went to do some shopping, sightseeing and have a night out. 8 of us booked 4 x Queen Rooms. We didn't check in til late afternoon as we arrived in London pretty early and decided to do some shopping and sightseeing before going to the hotel. When we did get there the reception staff were excellent, very friendly, welcoming and courteous, They presented us with birthday balloons and gave flowers for our mum which was lovely. We were given advice on where to go to eat and asked if they could help with our evening plans for where to go. The complimentary wine and cheese buffet was explained to us before we left to go to our rooms. They were all on the same floor which was good, and although not large they were more than adequate for a few nights (I honestly don't know why people complain about the size unless they are there for a 2 week stay i don't see the problem) No wardrobes, just a few hangers on the wall for clothes but there is a large space beneath the bed that will easily fit a suitcase if you're wanting to stay longer than a few days and are prepared to leave clothing packed and stored there. The bathroom area is compact, but has all you need and yes they have glass partition walls separating them from the bedroom but it is frosted glass if you were worried! Ha Ha :-) Complimentary Wi-Fi, tea - coffee and bottle water provided and nice flat screen TV with loads of sky channels including Sky Sports and Sky Movies at no additional cost. Wine and cheese buffet was a great start to the evening, and yet again the staff on the bar and buffet were great. The hotel is in a brilliant position for an evening at the theatre, or as we did - ideal for a night out around Leicester Square and Soho sampling the many bars / places to eat. China town is very close as is Covent Garden where we went for shopping the next morning (just a 10 minute walk) Nearerst tube is just 2 minutes walk away, and London is your oyster) We were delighted with our choice of hotel, and would recommend it as great value for the money and service bearing in mind the Travelodge up the road at Covent Garden were asking just £20 less per room with i guess nowhere near the ambience of this lovely boutique hotel and certainly without the complimentary wine / cheese/ crackers/ olives and breads offered at the Z hotel, But for us, the staff were the "stars of the show" A BIG thankyou to them for making us so welcome.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper email prior to arriving and request a room the doesn't face onto t...

The Z Hotel was quite hard to find as it is squashed tightly in between a cafe and the pub but when we eventually found it, it seemed very swanky and glossy.
The staff were very friendly and we were extremely happy to find out that we had been upgraded and that there were free wine and cheese in their cafe.
The rooms were quite small which we were kind of expecting but what we didn't expect was to have the shower practically ontop of the toilet.
The room was quite expensive but considering it's location and the fact it was during the christmas period it was acceptable.
Overall I think this hotel had a friendly atmosphere with its own bit of charm. A perfect place to stay after a night out in Soho.

This could be a great booking or a disaster depending on what you need/expect. I stayed one night. In summary:

Positives
1) Location ... 5 min walk to Piccadilly Circus. Very central location.
2) 99 GBP including tax and breakfast ... for central London!
3) Very welcoming reception. Helpful staff. I needed an early check-in and check-out and it was accomodated with a smile. This always provides a positive impression.
4) Good breakfast. Fresh pastry and bread. Very tasty. Fresh coffee, etc.
5) Rooms clean, appear fairly new....great television and viewing options.
6) Provided upgrade when checking in...double without a window to a double with a window. As it turned out, this was not a good deal (see below), but gesture was nice.

Negatives
1) Room very very small. Probably the smallest I have stayed in twenty years of travelling. In fairness, they state this on the website, but it's hard to imagine just how small the rooms are!
2) No cupboard or draws...nothing to help with clothes...no choice but to leave them in your suitcase and try to jam it under the bed. The rooms are extremely small!
3) Shower took some time to provide hot water...not very powerful either...adequate but took 5mins to get there.
4) Noisy. Windows appear very old and provide minimal insulation. It was hard to sleep. Would actually ask for a room without a window (or refuse the upgrade provided).
5) Kettle and tea etc provided...but to charge it, you need to place it on the floor next to the door.

Overall, it works fine if you are staying one night, possibly two. I would use it again for all the positives. But don't think I would use if going as a couple or extended stay. Even the doubles cannot accomodate two people for multiple days in comfort.

Room Tip: Without a window. Likely only way to be insulated from outside noise.

We stayed in a double room which I think they call a 'Z Double'. Yeah, it's a double bed more or less shoehorned between two walls but the room was uber clean, brandnew and smartly appointed. The bathroom was small but not ridiculous. Look, book this room if you going to spend most of your time out and about enjoying London. It's not really a room that you completely 'make yourself at home'...but you could if you are used to small spaces. When we stayed it was a Tuesday evening and there was free wine and cheese in the bar...we raised our eyebrows, we were so surprised! But we took advantage and there was even chutney and at least 8 different cheeses on a display. We were dead impressed. I liked the place and it would suit a romantic couple or theatre visitors who don't want to trapse to the cheap hotels in Paddington which are not nearly as nice. I suspect the prices of Z will go up eventually so gather ye rosebuds while ye can.
