My daughter lives round the corner from this lovely restaurant and we visit every time we stay with her. The food is always very good as is the service, the 2 courses for £15.50 are excellent value. The goats cheese stuffed aubergine roulade starter was one of the nicest starters I have ever had!

We ended up here when we needed a restaurant at short notice on a Sunday night (so many places in north east London are not open at this time). After visiting once around 10 years ago we'd decided not to return to what was then a rather patchy meal and presentation that was overcharging for what was provided. This time it couldn't have been more different! Four adult family members ordered four different starters and four different main courses. Every single item was excellent. The duck pate was outstanding, smooth and tasty and both salad options (goat's cheese and pigeon) were delicious. Beef satay came with an unusually thick sauce but was tasty nevertheless. Our mains were a "perfect" confit of duck, melting pork belly with good crunchy crackling, a "yummy" lamb rack and very good beef. We largely focused on sorbets for dessert, which came brimful of fruit bits. Our meals were accompanied by a very good French pinot noir, competitively priced at not much over £20. The bill compared very favourably with meals of similar quality, both in the vicinity and in the West End (around £40 per head for 3 courses wine and service) and service was incredily helpful, prompt and charming, We will definitely be back - much more quickly than last time!

This is a nice buzzy resturant. The staff were friendly and the cocktails strong not bad for £6..we ordered the shared platter for starters very tasty but the amount you get for £15 personally I think is steep. I ordered the sirloin steak very tasty melts in your mouth. My partner ordered the Salmon he found that bland .. but there is not much you can do with Salmon to be honest. We didn't have dessert but overall it was filling. The fact this resturant was on a our door step was a bonus. The menu was small but varied worth a visit!

Having lived in the area for ten years I thought it was about time to try The Village Kitchen. The food was ok, but pretty average, nothing special. However the service was very poor, not a smile, nothing. The "staff" preferred to chat among themselves and did not really bother taking care of their table. We almost felt as though we had done something wrong by being there. The place had no atmosphere and was only half decorated. I wont be back.

Never been to Walthamstow before. Beautiful evening and a gorgeous meal. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The meal was gorgeous, would recommend the mixed starter to anyone, the spring rolls in particular. Had a lovely kir royale on a 2:1 offer to start. The duck confit was fantastic and the house wine. Two cocktails, two courses for two, a bottle of house red and a cheese board between two at around £60. Shame about the "academic" very loud people next to us but not the restaurant's fault! Will come again if I am lucky!
