“It's OK”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Located in a good position for Earls Court and Kensington High Street, the hotel is OK. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the breakfasts are of good quality – excellent coffee.
I stayed in a double room was really a single so, although I am not the biggest person in the world (far from it), I had to squeeze around the end of the bed. There was a distinct lack of space – no drawers for storage and I couldn’t get the wardrobe doors open fully because of the other furniture in the room. I decided not to unpack.
I didn't sleep well during my two nights as there seemed to be a great deal of noise coming through the walls e.g. next room's TV.
The room was clear and well-serviced and the safe was appreciated.
There was lots of hot water and toiletries provided.

Room Tip: Make sure your double is a double.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your dining experience at Mercure Kensington.

I am delighted that you found our hospitality to your satisfaction. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback regarding the service you received. I have forwarded a copy to my team. I am sure that they will be very much encouraged by your appreciative comments.

As with many central London hotels the size of some the rooms will sometimes be on the small side. May I suggest for future stays to try one of our Privilege rooms. They are very spacious and include a king size bed.

We appreciate your comments and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future.

Yours sincerely,

This is a nice clean hotel, recently decorated. Hotel staff very friendly and happy to help.
The Breakfast is very much improved from previous visits, as were the breakfast staff especially Patrick who is a big credit to this Hotel, greeting you with a friendly smile and nothing is to much trouble for him.
We stayed in room 509 a nice king size bed, plenty of room. Not all rooms are as big as this one and most have twin beds.
Looking foward to our next visit in March.
The Hotel is well situated with only a few minute walk to Gloucester Rd Tube station and within walking distance of the Museums and the Royal Albert Hall / Hyde Park.

Room Tip: room numbers ending in 09 are a larger room.

I loved my stay here. Location is ideal for central London with both Gloucester Road and Earl's Court tube stations in the close by. Close to South Kensington and Kensington High Street.
Hotel and room were very clean, couldn't find it a fault. Bedroom was on the small side but for me it was enough. Quiet room and had all the amenities one needs when away from home.
Staff were lovely, from reception to breakfast and concierge. Patrick is great at breakfast and the girls in reception are friendly and helpfull. One of the concierge guys flaged a black cab for me in the rain.
They go the extra mile and you can see they care to make your stay special.
Will return and advise others to book. It's a nice hotel, not over the top luxurious but offers all you need when looking for an affordable stay in London.

Clean and 10 minutes from Gloucester Rd station. A good place to stay when you are on a budget. Continental breakfast reasonable at £7.75. Probably a little expensive for what you get. The WIFI is expensive at £14.99 for 24 hours but here is a £20 deal if you are staying longer.
I would probably stay here again. A good thing versus staying at Victoria is you are far from the morning rush during the week!

Stayed at the Mercure Kensington, it is a very nice clean hotel, staff very helpful and friendly. We had a double bedroom standard size and there was plenty of space. Even though it is on the busy Cromwell Road (A4), there was no noise in the room (double glazing worked well). plenty of restaurants and eateries by Gloucester Rd tube station. If you drive parking might be a problem, but did not really enquire about that as we travelled up by coach and tube (less stressful !!) Room was very clean and with all the facilities you might need, including hair drier, iron and ironing board and even dressing gowns. Would definately use again if visiting London.
