Description: Built in the 1800s and originally a branch of National Westminster Bank, The Jugged Hare opened in November 1996. It enjoys a prime position just moments away from Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and the King’s Road. The Jugged Hare takes its name from the traditional British dish where the hare is hung and then slowly cooked in an earthenware pot. We’ve adapted this dish to create our own Jugged Hare Pie, gently braising the meat with celery, carrots and onions in a rich port and redcurrant gravy. As a Fuller’s Ale & Pie House, we are famous for selling a range of fantastic homemade pies and perfectly conditioned award-winning ales, along with a range of pub classics. We’ve always got at least four cask-conditioned ales on tap and we brew them just six miles from here, at Fuller’s in Chiswick, London’s last remaining traditional family brewery.

“A great place to eat”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

Went with friends after reading a review in the Shooting Times. Great food, great service and a lovely pint as well to boot.!

The food is very gamey - actually had the jugged hare and it was fantastic - no real portion control so a hearty meal and at just over £200 including pre-meal drinks, three courses and wine for four of us it was sensibly priced.

It's never gonna get a Michelin star but if you want good food, really well cooked and presented in a relaxed informal atmosphere then head here - loved it and will definitely go again...!

“A Pub.....”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

A very new (by London standards) pub opened in the mid 90's. Beer was great but we did not eat as there was no one eating and it was dinner time (7:30 PM), had to wonder why.

“Average chainie pub”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Although impressive on the outside, this is just average. Food is average, drinks are samey. Atmosphere as potential but hasn't got there yet.

“Steady Enough Pub”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Visited recently and the beer was in fine fettle. A converted bank I believe and quite spacious. Well kept with friendly staff. The highlight for me was the sun-trapped beer garden which was quite tranquil considering the pubs location. 7/10

“Nice pub, good beer and food”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

Ate and drank here one night while in London, it was just down the street from our hotel. Very nice atmosphere with a good amount of locals but they treated us Americans quite well. Lots of beer choices and I probably tried most of them :) I just had a burger which was good, nothing special but two of my co-workers had the hare pot pie and they loved it. I didn't try for myself but the two of them highly recommended it. We only expected to make a quick stop in here but liked it enough to stay the night.
