First time I made a mistake like this and didn't check the ratings!
Location is good - 2 minutes walk from the Earl's court tube station. On arrival they demand payment in advance before seeing the room (probably most of the guests would run away). We've got the room in the basement, partial view of the daylight. Sheets were clean but everything else was dirty (bed covers, floor etc). Noise from the nearby train till 2 am and from 5.30 am onwards, Walls are so thin, you can hear squeaking floor or if someone turns in the bed or anything else from all surrounding rooms and from the top floor. We couldn't sleep almost entire night. On the good side only: clean sheets, ans new TV, that's all.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. You get what you pay for is not an excuse at all!!! This place should not operate at all.

Room Tip: Avoid if possible!

Stayed at the Anwar House for five nights.... The worst hotel / guest house I have ever experienced. Peeling wallpaper, damp on the walls, mix match of paints, ill fitting window, no coffee making facilities, taped up plugs, towel for curtain in bathroom....... And that's even before I sit on the bed!!!!!

Stay away!!!!!!!

I have been staying at Anwar house a lot of times now, and I keep coming back.
The rooms are small (as in most of London hostels), the furniture is old and not so pretty, the walls need a good hand of paint but the toilet works, the shower work, the bed is a bed and the television is working also.
I mean, you're a 2 minutes walk from Earls Court station and you are supposed to use the room just for sleeping, which you can do without problems.
So in the end I recommend this place, but if you are picky and fancy maybe you should look somewhere else.

Taking into account the price you pay for this hotel it's not too bad but don't expect The Ritz by any means.

It's close to Earls Court tube station, sainsburys right down the road, 5/10 minute walk to Earls Court Exhibition center and a lot of pubs/ restaurants/ bars close by.

Cleanliness was probably classed as below par but again for the price you can't really go wrong especially if you're using it solely for a place to get your head down. The hot tap was cold, the cold tap hot, the shower tray was also prone to filling up whilst showering and there were two temperatures - extra hot or extra cold.

Take a look at our impeccable video made whilst staying there....

Good location - 5 min walk from Earl's Court Tube Station and very close to a hipermarket. The Harrods, Hyde Park, some famous museums are within walking distance. That's OK. The philippinean staff is very helpful but the management is...so...expensive-look furnitures and cigar-collection is in manager's office and so on, but the guestrooms are very poor and uninspired. There isn't any pictures on the wall, isn't any reading light, isn't any loveliness. Just like a military barrack. We stayed in a twin room (probably the worst in the hotel) view to a firewall and the back of the Marriott. You hear the heating-noise all the night from outside and the sex noise from the upper floor. The pillowcases and sheets had holes or patched. The bathroom is very small and the shower was moldy although it seems to clean up every day. So it's not really friendly. Yes it's a cheap hotel... In a "poor post-socialist country" - like Hungary - you couldn't rent out a room with these conditions. For this money in Hungary you coluld spend a long weekend at a luxury spa-hotel with massage, sauna, all-you-can-eat...full service. London is not a big deal to allow it to itself. I think London is very very overhyped.

I stayed here for 3 nights, check in- was fine no problems.

Had a room on the top floor - private room, bathroom on a shared basis.

No working tv on arrival a sign stuck on the front saying it wasnt working, bed was clean. Room was satisfactory. The room had a sink and fridge which was handy.

The bathroom was too small however, there was no sink plug. The shower had no shower head holder so you had to hold the shower head in one hand, try washing your hair- near impossible.

I did put a complaint into reception, with no assurances anything would be changed.

Arrived later that evening back into hotel on 2nd night found I had a working tv..:)
Nothing changed in the bathroom though so had to grin and bear with it.

The location of the hotel was near Gloucester Road Tube station on piccadilly line so excellent for commuting around London.

Near to sainsbury's/waitrose and reasonably priced restaurants, Post Office nearby too.

Nice area- quiet, no problems with the hotel. No breakfast available but not such a big deal.

If you are looking for a budget hotel and can put up with a small bathroom then this hotel is fine for you, try and opt for a room with your own ensuite, it may be bigger?

There was no tea/coffee in the room but there was a kettle. Overall reasonably satisfied but for me personally I wouldn't stay here again, as this hotel could do better.

Room Tip: Choose a room with your own bathroom rather than shared.
