Overall I would say that if you’re hanging out at Camden Market, then you should go and check it out. It’s a fun experience, for sure, and the ice cream is pretty good. The toppings are amazing and really add a nice touch, as many of them are very unusual. In fact, one of the main things about Chin Chin is that you’ll get to sample flavors that you normally don’t see in a lot of places
I had pondicherry vanilla with caramel toppings, which was very good. The combo was perfect, and the caramel was excellent. My g/f had the same vanilla with hazelnut. My mom had the Mexican watermelon fizz which was by far the most delicious. I have not tasted a watermelon like that before, and if it’s on offer when you go, I’d strongly suggest trying it.
Of course, how the ice cream is made is what gets attention, and it’s rather interesting with the nitrogen and such. One thing you can be assured of, is that your ice cream will be fresh. If you’ve never had fresh ice cream before it might taste a bit strange, maybe not as strong a flavor as you’d like (lacking that ‘chemical punch’, lol). Keep tasting though, and your tongue and palate will start to get the point!
In closing, even after separating the process from the product (meaning not being swayed by the bells and whistles of all the nitrogen clouds and such), I think the end product is pretty good. It may not be the second coming that some claim it to be, but it’s worth a trip, for sure. Will I go again the next time I’m in Camden Market? You better believe I will. It was fun, if nothing else!
Hope this helps
