“great choice for great money”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

I visited London with my husband for 6 nights to celebrate NY, after checking all hotels int he region which were super super expensive my friend living in nell gwynn apartments recommended it. checking the pictures and asking for the prie we thought we should give it a try.
Gladly we never regretted this decision, the rooms and spacious even bigger than hotel rooms, room service is provided during weekdays, and you have your own kitchen so you can cook whatever you want.
Location: best location to stay at in London since it is not very busy, it is very elegant and the houses surrounding it are amazing and finally it is close to the train and metro station just 7 min walking so very convenient.

Negative things:
No wifi, they only provide you with a cable and we had ipads and iphones so we couldn't get connected to the internet and if by any chance you want to do so, u have to go to the reception area and pay 5 pounds. luckily starbucks is facing the apartments so we went there every time we wanted free wifi

although room service is provided but change of towels is not provided, i think you have to ask for it

in general i would definitely stay again at nell gwynn without 1% hesitation.

Cheers

I have stayed at Nell Gwynn a few times over the years and to be totally honest this time I just felt it was soooooo over priced for what it is.

The biggest problem with this place is that ALL the apartments are different - and you can never guarantee which one you're going to get. A lovely one or terribly designed one!

The cleaners don't really clean and the place always feels a little dirty. My apartment was very dirty and had a terrible smell!

One of the ONLY good things about this place is the location.

Otherwise next time I'm in london I am going to look around - I think you're better off staying at a hotel for these prices.

Not the first time been at Nell Gwynn house, and had always a good experience. The location is perfect, the maid service very efficient, the staff at letting office extremely helpful and professional. Only few small things would have made my experience even better... The noise and vibration from the fridge was very very loud, and the shower spray was just terrible and not possible to adjust it since was stuck. But will for sure be back.

Great location & lovely entrance but very small apartments with a neglected air. Over priced for what's on offer. Could do with a good clean through too. We booked through Big Red London & were disappointed by their organisational skills. Poor paperwork & lack of proper information.

I stayed atNell Gwynn House for a couple of weeks in the summers of 2011, 2012 and 2013. The building is very conveniently located between Sloane Square and South Kensington Tube stations. It is also a twenty minutes stroll from the Museums in the Cromwell Road. The superior studios are fully fitted with a kitchen area and a washer drier, which is ideal if you are away from home for more than a week. One should only try to avoid the front and side flats that give onto Sloane Street because it can get very noisy because of the traffic or the nearby junior school. Overall the experience has always been good even if at times there have been some issues with the cleanliness of the cutlery and crockery upon arrival.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter at night and early morning.

We stayed at NGH for 7 nights with my family ( 2 adults and 2 children) in a one bedroom apartment, the couch folds out as a bed and there is a separate bedroom with a queen bed. The room was a little tight but more than adequate for our needs. There is a separate kitchen with a dishwasher and a washer and drier (washing liquid would have been a nice touch!) and enough room in the living room for a dinner table as well as the fold out bed.
Our major issue was the condition of the room upon arrival, we were told it was ready for us - it was disgraceful and we when we advised the less than helpful desk clerk, he suggested that we should go for a walk for an hour. We left the room for a couple hours bought some supplies and had a coffee despite being desperate for a shower and a rest following 23 hrs of travelling from Australia. Upon our return the room was still not cleaned and there was no apology, we were forced out yet again.
After this initial set back, the rest of our stay was free of any problems and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Chelsea. It is a great area with easy access to buses (via King's Road) and trains.

The family stayed here for a week or so in August 2013. When we entered the flat, it was like walking into a recently opened tomb...there was a thick, and I do mean t-h-i-c-k! atmosphere, almost smoke-filled but not with smoke; more dusty and downright inhospitable. We opened all the windows and let the place air for a few hours (overnight) and the next day, in daylight, it seemed a lot nicer than the night before. Any/all complaints we made fell on deaf ears!

As for the flat itself, it was okay...not brilliant, in need of an upgrade, but, for our short-term needs, it was okay. As for the cleaning, well, this left a lot to be desired...it was done, but, the bare minimum seemed to be the norm rather than the exception. Any problems with blown bulbs and other small items were left unanswered during our stay.

Location wise, it is hard to beat. Others have mentioned the shops nearby including the just-upgraded Sainsbury's store; and within a few minutes, one can be at a better stocked Waitrose and Tescos and M&S - all on the King's Road. South Ken Tube is just up the road, and a good walk takes one into the Museums, e.g., Natural History, Science (or something similar), and the V&A - be sure to visit this one and take lunch there, it's tres bon!

Caveat: The reason we chose NGH was because of the underground parking facility; what we discovered upon arrival was that it was owned/operated by a different company, and that we would have to pay them for use of the parking privilege. It is cheaper than on-street parking, but, it is something to be aware of...and don't forget to add the parking fees into your budget. It cost us GBP150 +/- to leave our rented car there for a week...plus gratuity. And they do watch the clock...any extra time will be charged accordingly.

Finally, the big question: Would we stay there again? No.

Room Tip: Steer clear of any room full of filthy air or smoke filled. It is billed as a non-smoking environmen...
