This hotel is at the upper end of where I have been in the past. Rooms were big, bathroom was big and all the decor was fresh and modern. It's a shame that I was only there for 1 night on business, as I would have stayed for longer.
Breakfast was either brought to your table or buffet. I went for the buffet and it had exactly what I needed.

Stayed at Grange City Hotel for a business trip to the UK March 2012 for a week. I was given a room with a better view when I checked in so it was a nice touch. I have stayed in this hotel for previous business trips with a Club room which gives you access to the Club lounge where you can eat breakfast and have a few drinks/snaks at night.

This time around I did not have the club rooms though. The hotel is nice and I alwasy like their bed its nice and comfortable for a good night sleep.

I have tried the restaurant there and its not bad food at a resonable price. Een though its rated a 5 Star, the experience at the hotel is not so 5 Star.

Overall the hotel is good and I will stay here for business as its 2 mins walk from the office, but I would not spend that kind of money for my own personal travel and stay in this hotel. I think there are lot better options in London

Room Tip: see if you can get them to give you higher floors with a view of the Tower Bridge.

Was very impressed with this hotel, especially as I had only booked the day before and picked it up for under £100 per night on lastminute. It's right next to the Tower Hill tube, perfect for the Circle & District line into the West End, so don't let the City location put you off. I think we were upgraded to an executive room (1001) which was incredible, with a lounge area directly overlooking Tower Bridge and the Shard. And the key components were all there - a super comfy bed and great power shower. A good sized gym by hotel standards and great pool were welcome additions too. I'm sure the hotel is packed in the week with business travellers, but definitely consider it for weekend leisure too.

Overall the Grange is an above average hotel in the centre of London City. I am not sure that it is a 5 star, but it is a solid 4 star. I have listed the key Pro's and Con's below.

Pro's
- Large rooms (for a London hotel) with nice views (ask for a Tower view on at least the 7th floor or higher)
- Special room note...if you can afford it book room 1201...spectacular views!
- Excellent service from staff throughout the hotel
- Attractive meeting space
- Good gym (attached to a health club)
- Solid housekeeping services
- Great shower in the room (pressure and temperature)

Con's
- Room's are not quiet...can very easily hear your neighbours coming and going
- Gym - while nice - does not open until 6:30am (7:00am on weekends) which is too late for the average business traveller
- Restaurant (similar comment as above) opens too late in the morning

One other one-off point I would make. While staying there was an event that the hotel hosted which was a charity boxing event. Clearly lots of fun for those participating - and quite a bit of alcohol consumed. That alone is not a concern, but after the 2nd fire alarm at 3:00am I would have expected the hotel management to at least acknowledge this with an apology the following morning. It seemed like a strange event for the hotel to choose to host.

Anyway, it was still a very good hotel...albeit with a few issues that prevent a 5 star assessment in my opinion. I would return without question.

Pleasant staff but this hotel does not deserve its five star rating. We were given the upgrade to Executive on arrival, a nice touch but seems fairly standard when you read back through the reviews. Unfortunately the upgraded room had an adjoining door to the next room so i could hear every work of the 5am argument the couple in the next room were having!!

Added to this a short sharp blast of the firealarm at 8am the morning after and i can honestly say i have had much more relaxing weekend breaks.

The surrounding area is a business district so it was no surprise that a lot of bars/pubs cafes were closed over the weekend. The number 15 bus or the underground will take you right into the heart of the city for plenty of choice. The wetherspoons is a much better alternative location for breakfast and the Hung Drawn and Quartered pun nearby offers traditional London charm and is open over the weekend too!

If you are happy with a 4 star and can get a deal it's worth a look. Avoid the rooms with the adjoining doors.

After many years of travelling to London and finding few hotels that lived up to expectations, we were very pleasantly surprised by the Grange City Hotel (make sure you are booking the right Grange!). Located close to Tower Bridge tube, the Tower, Tower Bridge, St Katherine's dock, Butlers Wharf, London Borough Market, Leadenhall and many other places of interest, it is a good base from which to explore London. The hotel is stylish with very comfortable, quiet rooms. The conference facilities which we had first hand experience of, were excellent, as were the meals. In the grounds of the hotel is a large and impressive section of the old City Wall - worth going to see even if not resident in the hotel. We found the staff helpful and efficient. One tip on travelling to and from Heathrow by motor vehicle - remember you need to traverse the city and allow extra time. The hotel recommends leaving 3 hours from departure. On a wet, cold wintry Saturday night in London, we found this too little, just making our plane in time.

Room Tip: Most rooms should be OK, but perhaps it would be safer to be up 3 or more floors in case of conventi...

We recently stayed at the Grange City Hotel. The location of the hotel is fantastic, situated almost next door to Tower Hill tube station, a 2 minute walk from the DLR and a host of restaurants a short walk away. The room was very spacious and the pool and jacuzzi excellent.

The only reason that we didn't rate this hotel higher was the quality of service. When we arrived at the hotel (be it before the check in time) we weren't even greeted with a 'hello'. We were very brusquely told that we could leave our bags with the concierge. The hotel also failed to inform guests that there would be filming going on outside the hotel which would involve simulated gunfire, so it was rather scary to be hearing what we thought to be gunfire at 10am on a Saturday morning! If the 'welcome'/front if house staff could just brush up on this then we would definitely rate this hotel higher.

Having said that for £101 a night it was very good value and would definitely stay there again!
