Wow! This is what you will exclaim as you walk though the unassuming front door of this hotel. The reception area is placed in the stunning domed Victorian banking hall and it is truly breathtaking.

From the get go you are made to feel welcome by the staff, who invite you to take a seat in the plush lounge area prior to checking you in. You are asked your preferences upon check in, for example, would you prefer still or sparkling water in your room, a small thing but my husband and I typically fight over who gets the one bottle of still water, leaving the loser with the gacky sparkling!

Our room was on the first floor giving us an up close and personal view of the intricacies of the stunning glass dome. The room was built for intimacy, from the dark red walls and dark mahogany furniture to the dimmed and quite frankly sexy lighting. The note in the bathroom invited you to order rose petals and champagne with strawberries, lets be honest here the whole experience screamed SEX, tastefully of course.

We opted not to have breakfast at the hotel instead taking the ten minute walk over the bridge to experience the foodie delights of Borough Market, a must have whilst you are staying here; as such I'm unable to pass comment on the food. We did however sample some of the wonderful Champagne and the amazing concoctions of the bar manager including the beetroot margarita - a must! The bar staff were knowledgable and seriously well versed in the art of Bar!

We WILL be returning, when and only when we can get a weekend babysitter again, if you catch my drift!

Thanks for the raving accolades. I had to blush just a bit on the note about the Rose petals and champagne, but we do always hope that love will rekindle during visits to the hotel. I noticed that you enjoy the London markets. Not sure if you've been to Old Spittalfields Market but it is also just a short walk from the hotel and also a fun way to spend the day just to see another of London's open air markets. Also, we have some fun afternoon tea surprises which will be launched late Spring. Make sure to ask about it on your next visit.

Threadneedles is such a great hotel. If we will come back to London, we would stay here exclusively. The hotel is centrally located and the area is very well maintained, quiet and safe. The service is extremely friendly and accommodating and the breakfast is excellent! We felt very comfortable!

Room Tip: We were housed in the Armstrong Suite, which we can highly recommend.

It was indeed a pleasure to have you with us and we will look forward to your next visit to London. If you haven't already been to Old Spittalfields Market, you may want to add this to the list of exciting places to visit and it is within walking distance of the hotel. Thanks for your kind words. Best Regards.

Threadneedles is a favourite of ours in London. It's an old bank headquarters which has been magnificently transformed into an elegant luxurious retreat. This is no brash loud 5* city centre hotel with the obligatory 'wow' entrance and buzz of staff and customers all falling over each other. Not at all - the exact opposite. This is a quiet luxurious retreat where you hear little noise. We've only gone at the weekends and it is gloriously quiet but I imagine it's quiet all week round as business men come and go without fuss. Luxury oozes all round but there is no intrusion. Sumptuous rooms. Sumptuous breakfasts. My lasting memory is sitting in the glorious main lounge area (the old banking hall) taking in the exquisite period detail in the glass dome and the modern additions which are all beautifully appointed, and enjoying the private treat of the honesty bar. So what's the catch? Well, you do need to know it's in the City which is quiet (dead!) at weekends. The high quality restaurant is closed for dinner on Saturday and Sunday. But for the lack of any places open very close at hand, you get good prices at this hotel for what would cost 3-4 times that amount a few miles away. We love the City - it's devoid of tourists, and within easy reach of the tube and anywhere you need to go. It's also within easy shout of the trendy east side of town (shoreditch etc.), and also the architecture in this part of town is the most interesting (old and new). Know what you are getting here, but for the price and what you get this is very very hard to beat in London.

Indeed our ultimate goal is to provide our guests with a luxury escape from the hussle and bustle in central London so that a weekend escape always includes some quiet time for enjoying the incredible landscape and architecture that London is known for. We are please to hear that you have tapped into our secret hideaway and look very much forward to your next visit. I also wanted to also share with you some additional gems nearby the hotel that are worth considering on your next visit. One is just around the corner from the hotel, Vertigo 42 Champagne Bar which is open on Friday and Saturday nights with panoramic views of the city and well worth including on your next trip to London. Make sure to book early. Kind Regards.

Stayed here at the weekend. The area is safe and quiet. There is a tube station nearby. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows were excellent. Breakfast was pricey but very good. Staff friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed our stay here, it is a pleasant, immaculate boutique hotel situated in a handsome building on bustling Threadneedles Street. Service was friendly and personal, though they could probably do with more than 2 bods on reception. I had requested a quiet room due to other reviewers mentioning traffic noise and the pretty, well appointed room that we were allocated was delightful and we did not hear a peep. Both room and bathroom were very nicely decorated and generous in size. The location is great for business and leisure as Bank and Liverpool Street tube stations are located nearby. We found Bonds Restaurant, where breakfast is served a little lacking in ambience but all in all Threadneedles served our purposes very well.

My partner booked the hotel for my birthday in September 2012. Everyone was kind, friendly, polite and professional and the building is beautiful. The staff can't do enough for you and the lovely gentleman on reception was very helpful when I couldn't figure out how to use the lift (it had been a long train journey!) We booked a standard room but were upgraded to the 'Hilary Suite', and as my name is Hilary I found that very memorable and funny - I'm easily amused, clearly. The suite was amazing, with a separate study/sitting area and even a television in the (ornate) bathroom. Luxurious doesn't even cover it, definitely a five star experience. The breakfast was wonderful too: I had the fruit waffles with cream, lots of coffee and fresh orange juice. I'd go again just for that! The service was impeccable too.

Thanks, Threadneedles staff.

Room Tip: Has to be the Hilary Suite. The book about the History of British Holidaymaking in the sitting area...

Stayed for a Friday night out, staff were really friendly and helpful. The public areas are very attractive and the room was clean and very comfortable, although there was no view which made the room a little dark. Bathroom was well equiped and the shower was large and powerful. Would definitely stay again
