“Good stay despite extensive building work”

I was working in the area so I booked a stay here. The hotel is undergoing very extensive renovation/new building work so there were few facilities and a temporary reception. The room was spotless and cool. Bathroom OK. staff were really good and doing their best in the difficult circumstances. It is supposed to be finished in a month so I will probably try it again if I am in the area. I managed to get a spot on the car park which was V useful.

Room Tip: Have to wait til its finished to recommend but the rooms on the back are probably quieter

As you have highlighted the hotel is going through an extensive refurbishment which started 22nd August 2011 and is due to be completed August 2012, as part of this all our existent 83 bedrooms have all had a full refurbishment with new case goods, carpets, LCD TVs, case goods and soft furnishing, I am pleased you were happy with the bedroom you stayed in and that the room was very clean

I would like to thank you for your positive comments regarding my team of staff at the hotel, I have passed on your comments and they are very grateful

I would like to thank you once again for your feedback and I hope you will stay with us after the refurbishment has been completed so you can see the brand new hotel

Other recent reviews have given this hotel a bit of a bashing. I would agree the current situation is less than optimal but we have stayed for several years during wimbledon fortnight. Our check in was seamless and the staff were very friendly. Room on the second floor was immacualtley tidy and clean.
We had breakfast both mornings and were struck again by the pleasantness of the staff. The hotel is opposite colliers wood train station and cab office next door is an easy way to get to wimbledon.
Current situation is however marred by a huge expansion to the hotel which might be running behind schedule as due to finish early summer 2012. We will probably return back next year when works are completed and it is unfortunate to leave a bad review due to the current remodelling.

Room Tip: 203 was not bad

As you have mentioned we are currently going through full construction and full refurbishment which is due to be completed July 2012, the finished product will be amazing and we will offer a much higher standard of quality to our guests

stopped here a few times with work over the last few months and the transformation that is taking place is staggering
it states on the website that the renovations are taking place so it hasnt been of any inconvenience at all to myself during my stays
a lot of reviews mention the building works but it is a new extension being built and the works havent started before 8 and there hasnt been no noise from after 5 while i have been there,the existing rooms have all been refurbished to a high standard and they are now looking really fantastic and its nice to see a bit of london when you walk through the corridoors on the pillars
as a base its a great place to stay as colliers wood tube station is just across the road and a few pubs and restaurants are close by
got to say a special mention about all the hotel staff,from the reception to the housekeeping and the breakfast team,every time i see one of them they are always happy,always speak to me and are a credit to the holiday inn brand,i have stayed in a hotels in dubai,usa,across europe and customer service here is up there with the best
looking forward to my next visit

I have stayed at this hotel many times, mainlt because of the location, across the road from the mainline tube station 'Colliers Wood'

I am also able to leave my car their whislt attending to business in the city

However currently there are building works and the air conditioning (ventilation) TV and kettle were all not working and there was no suitable breakfast facilities.

I did get a 50% reduction on my room rate on check out, which was appropriate, but I will not use a again until the building works are complete

Room Tip: Dont book until the refurbishment is complete

As you you have mentioned the hotel is currently undergoing a large refurbishment and full construction work, this started 22nd August 2011 and is due to be completed August 2012, we have had announcements on all our booking channels since 22nd August 2011 advising guests of the current condition of the hotel, the limited breakfast seating, limited parking, I can only apologise if you did not see this

I would like to once again apologise for any inconvenience caused to you and hope that this will not deter you from staying with us again once we have completed the refurbishment

Firstly i would like to say that the staff are excellent at this hotel. The location is great and will be superb when the renovations are completed.
They are completing a full refurbishment of the hotel whch will be finished by September 2012. I had a sneak peak of the new bedrooms which are fantastic modern spacious rooms. They are adding an additional increasing the bedrooms. You do need to be patient at the moment as the taff are finding the refurbishment challenging, but one completed it will be great. I would highly reccomend this hotel for business and leisure

Our third visit to this hotel,the previous two being perfectly adequate. I booked and pre-paid a double room for one night at a cost of £99.00. Nothing could have prepared my wife and I for the sight that greeted us on arrival. The place is simply one great building site,the hotel being virtually completely rebuilt. A makeshift reception area,a narrow passage covered in wet paint leading to the stairs. No restaurant, no bar, no public spaces whatsoever. An absolute shambles.A tiny breakfast hatch was available,however trays had then to be taken back upstairs and the food consumed on the bedroom floor! When I booked a month previously,no warning was given on the website as to the state of the property which in my view is dangerous. I cannot believe the Senior Management have allowed the hotel to remain open while this work is being carried out. The local Health and Safety Authority are obviously unaware of the conditions.This place makes Fawlty Towers look like The Savoy!

As you have mentioned in your comments the hotel is currently undergoing full construction work and a full refurbishment this started 22nd August 2011 and is due to be completed August 2012, as part of this work all the existing 83 bedrooms have had a full refurbishment, new case goods, decoration, carpet, beds and we are also adding on an addition wing which will increase our bed stock from 83 to 139. We are also having completely new public spaces and areas, new bar, breakfast area. As a result of this going on in the hotel we have had announcements loaded on all our booking channels since 22nd August 2011, advising guests that there is no seating in breakfast we are offering breakfast to go or alternatively guests can come down and collect the breakfast and take it up to their rooms, the announcements also advise that we currently do not have a bar and very limited parking. I can only apologise if you did not see the announcements when you booked, but I can confirm that they are loaded.

Upon check the team do also advis guests of the current works within the hotel, the hours of noise for contractors are also explained and we do give guests the option of cancelling their booking and booking elsewhere if they are not happy with the hotel

I would like to once again apologise for any inconveniance caused to you and your wife during your recent stay with us and hope that this will not deter you from staying with us in the future once the work has been completed

I have stayed in this hotel in the past and it was very much in need of a make up as it was looking tired. I had read on their WEBSITE that they were undergoing an extension so when I arrived last week I was pleased that finally the hotel is undergoing this much needed refurbishment. I saw the pictures of what the hotel will look like and all I can say is WOW WOW WOW. I have made a point to rebook later in the summer because it will be amazing!!! The staff were very friendly and though there wasn't much space for breakfast they allowed us to take the breakfast back into our bedroom. The cleaning lady asked if my room was cleaned to my satisfaction, which it was. Reception staff were always asking if there was any problems and if they can help sort them out. The hotel is very close to the tube station and has underground parking - bonus! there are also some good eating places near by.

I would like to thank you for your positive comments regarding the team of staff I have working at the hotel, they will all go that extra mile to make our guests experience a positive one

As you have mentioned we are doing a full refurbishment of the hotel, within this all the guest areas are being completely replaced with new decor, furniture, equipment. All the bedrooms are having new furniture, TVs, carpet, case goods and soft furnishing and we will also have increased our room count from 83 to 139, as a result of this the hotel will be of much higher standard and quality

I would like to once again thank you for your positive comments and hope you are impressed with the new hotel when you stay with us again later this year
