“Great quality budget hotel”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

We were looking for an overnight stay in london for a family of five and found a two bed apartment at the royal foundation of St Katherine. After realising it was a religious retreat I felt a little concerned but my worries were completely wrong.

It is modern, very clean and very friendly. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the room was very nice. Considering the DLR runs past the hotel I was concerned with noise but it was extremely peaceful! Its a 2-3 minute walk to the station which made it perfect to get into the centre of london.

The breakfast was of a high standard and plentiful. The only one very small downside was that the beds were single and did not push together so as a married couple I would have preferred a double bed. But it wasn't a big deal as everything else was so good and it was only a one night stay.

A fantastic overnight stay. Ill definitely be staying here again.

My wife and I booked into this small hotel/retreat for a couple of nights in October. It is a little out of the centre but very close to Limehouse DLR station. It is more of an upmarket university hall of residence rather than a hotel but having said that the experience was very good. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The en-suite room, although small, was quiet, comfortable and clean and had a nice view of the central garden area. Continental breakfast was included and was perfectly good. Despite its location, trips into central London were easy and quick either via Bank or Canary Wharf. There are no TVs in the rooms but the wifi connection worked well. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.

Read reviews, nice place , quiet, hospitable staff, location you may think is a little rough but next to overground and was very quiet ( part from door next room opening all morning nothing wd40 wouldn't fix) top marks bit like a retirement home. Wifi good for I player.

This is a wonderful, relaxing Anglican retreat center which offers a high value bed and breakfast. While you won't find TV's in your room, you will find a peaceful oasis in the St. Katharine's Wharves area. Just two stops on the Docklands Light Rail from Tower Bridge. the location is quite convenient to central London and walking distance to some great dining. A Gordon Ramsey restaurant, The Narrow situated right on the Thames, is in easy walking distance. A longer stroll along the Thames river walk takes you to St. Katharine's Wharves where there is a lovely marina with many interesting cafes. You can also take the DRL to get to the wharves.

The breakfast is generous and varied including fresh baked croissants daily along with eggs, meats, cheese, granolas and fruit. The garden view rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Room Tip: The first floor garden rooms are lovely and very quiet

We stayed here 2 nights last week. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There are no tvs but that was fine for us. It is a very calm and peaceful place to stay in London and really good value. It also has a car park so you can leave your car and use the excellent transport links which are very close. Breakfast was good and staff gave us very good advice about where to eat in the evening. Would definitely recommend!

A pleasant place with a beautiful garden, the room was pleasant and clean with a nice view of the garden from our window. clean. A quiet, peaceful place. Accessible via DLR. A good breakfast. A helpful staff, good service. Great value for money.

Royal Foundation of St Katherine ("RFSK") is situated in the locality of Limehouse which mainly comprise of warehouse buildings.

The room at RFSK is immaculate, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is provided at the dining hall with a good variety of yogurt, fruits, cereals, hot bread, ham & eggs. However, there is lunch / dinner provided so the guests will either have to walk out to Limehouse to look for a bar/cafe (which is limited) or take a train to the nearest shopping center at Canary Wharf for a meal. There is a cafe "Barista Coffee House" which is about 5 - 10 minutes walk from RFSK which serves Italian food.

There are no laundry facilities at RFSK or any laundrette shops within 10 minute walking radius. Guests will either have to carry their laundry requirements to London or elsewhere for washing.

Overall, the stay is comfortable, however, the lack of dining facilities / laundrette is rather inconvenient.
