Description: Epitomising destination dining at its very finest, Aqua Nueva sits on top of the former Dickens & Jones department store, opposite the London Palladium. With breathtaking views from the terrace, the restaurant is equally striking inside - a fabulously chic blend of contemporary styles is the setting for acclaimed Spanish cuisine. Tapas delicacies are presented with real artistic flair, and are perfectly matched with a choice of colourful cocktails from the talented mixologists. Aqua Nueva, with its unmatched ambience and flair, has attracted widespread critical acclaim, and attracts celebrity diners regularly.

“Appalling joke worthy of a Sacha Baron Cohen Parody”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Just had the worst restaurant experience in 30 years of global restauranting. If you had to parody a chic "up its own chuff" bar/restaurant in a Sacha Baron Cohen movie you couldn't get more extreme than this place. Every stereotype hyped to the point of unbelievable. The Maitre d' in the Spanish restaurant was a cross between Basil Fawlty and Baron Cohen's "Bruno". He's a liability that if the management are not aware of need to be. I suppose he could be a reason why the place is so empty.

It's not only the decor that has a dark interior. The service and attitude are blacker than black, so bad indeed that we didn't even bother staying for the starters. So, sorry, I can't even comment on the food but I hope it's not like the atmosphere which looks great but tastes vile.

“Overpriced, over-pretentious”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

My friend and I came here for a catch up; and what better way to do so than to share some tasty tapas... or so we thought. I wasn't aware of the Aqua concept previously but my friend is a regular visitor to the Kyoto side of the restaurant and was expecting a similar experience.

However, we were both left rather disappointed. The atmosphere was non-existent - dark mirrored corridors leading to an opulent room... with two other diners in it. All through the meal we could hear the buzz coming from the Japanese restaurant and could only wish were were that side!

The tapas itself was extremely disappointing. Whilst this is meant to be 'fine' tapas dining my understanding of the tapas concept is that it's all about sharing. However, when the scallop dish consists of only two scallops (or perhaps it was one cut in half, it's pretty dark in the room so hard to tell!), sharing becomes a bit of a problem. The food itself was only average - I've had far more flavoursome food (and much bigger portions!) that costs much less. The cocktails, whilst tasty, were also expensive, even by London standards. Overall, too expensive for what it is. We won't be coming again!

“Late evening drink”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

I'm not a fab. Reason being the mood lighting is too dark, not that welcoming when you want a quiet drink, and the staff could cheer up a small bit. I've been a few times and to be honest, I don't think I'll be back.
