We came across this great little place whilst wandering around Covent Garden on a Sunday evening wondering where to eat. We're lovers of Spain, Spanish food and especially the lovely pintxo bars that are popular in the Costa Brava so we thought we'd give this tapas bar a try.

The food is all served in small portion sizes, buffet style. Each portion has a large or small cocktail stick in it which you keep and then add up at the end. At the time of writing the larger portions were £2.75 and the smaller ones £1.95. Other reviewers have commented on the menu but it does seem to change. There were quails eggs and ham, cod in batter with a dressing (can't remember what it was but it was delicious) pork kebabs, meatballs in tomato sause, salt cod, olives and bread, anchovies, chicken skewers amongst a host of other dishes, all freshly cooked and regularly changed. There were also desserts but we didn't try them as we were so stuffed from the main. We had about 12 dishes between us and were full!

The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing and the bar was mostly full whilst we were there. Most of the seating is on bar stools against bars that run around the walls but there was some seating in an inner chamber! Didn't check it out as were comfortable where we were - bottle of Rioja, tapas, music...fabulous.

What is great is that you can go and just have a small snack very cheaply (bearing in mind this IS Covent Garden) and still enjoy the atmosphere and the buzz.

If I have a criticism it's that the cheapest wine is £17.75 a bottle! It was very nice wine but had there been a cheaper bottle of drinkable wine available I would have given this review 5 stars instead 4.

We will definitely go again.

Pix (both Covent Garden and Soho) is a more authentic tapas experience than the usual restaurants. It is more of a bar, with a buzzing atmosphere, so don't expect comfy seats and a quiet chat. The food is served on the bar, buffet style. Fresh food is constantly brought out and the menu can change throughout the night. Options include quails egg and Iberico ham on bread, meatballs, potted mackerel, croquets..as well as a few sweet options such as churros with a shot of chocolate. 5-6 dishes are recommended for a main course, but we always end up eating nearer 10 as they are so delicious but also more filling than you expect. Each dish has a cocktail stick which you collect in a glass and pay per stick. Service is always very friendly but can be a bit slow when it comes to paying, as there isn't table service as such. When fresh dishes are made the waiters will offer them round the tables first. A fun place to go on any night.

One of those all too rare occasions where we just got lucky one Saturday lunchtime. This place is a little gem amongst all the chain restaurants all selling the same old stuff. No need to look at a menu - all the tapas are laid out before you on the bar as you walk in and the service could not be more friendly and welcoming. It wasn't cheap but equally it wasn't expensive for the quality of food offered. Top of our list when we're next in Town.

Nice atmosphere in this place serving pintxos. Definitely one of the better tapas restaurants in London. Kitchen makes a real effort of serving something else than just the obvious olives and jamon serrano. Good food but bit pricy considering it is still a place to go before dinner. Not serving cava by the glass is also a major flaw.
