Ideally situated at the Victoria Station and its underground station with good access to central London. Recently refurbished and in excellent condition.Good breakfast and lovely staff. Very well decorated and one of the best showers I've had in a hotel room! Close to restuarants and Victoria Theatre. Would have no hesitation in using this in the future and close the major attractions.

Rather grand, classically-styled and recently refurbished hotel right next to Victoria station in central London. Stayed one night on business with a colleague who didn't want to stay at the Days Inn, and frankly I wished I had persuaded her otherwise. Very clean, reasonably priced and well-situated. But utterly mechanical, impersonal service and a combination of irritating and unnecessary minor factors made this the least relaxing hotel I can recall staying in for a long time: arrived very tired after a slog through a wet, cold, busy London rush hour and checked in, to be given cursory directions to a room it took me simply ages to find - if I'd known, I would have asked the receptionist to draw me a map; couldn't find any staff to ask and decided against the trip back to reception for clearer directions in case I starved to death in the maze of corridors, corners, lobbies and lifts. Took me even longer to work out how to switch on the light above my bed whilst leaving the rest off, and to switch the TV on - nitpicking perhaps, but when you're tired, hungry and irritable you tend to wonder why you've never had these problems in other hotels? Comfortable bed, although thin walls and significant noise from the corridor at unsocial hours might affect light sleepers.

Breakfast next morning continued the discouraging experience: were shown to a table promptly but, like other guests, had to continually get up and ask the waitresses for coffee, toast, milk, etc - something we could have forgiven if they'd been understaffed and trying to cope but a bit irritating when they were just leaning against the bar chatting to each other.

On check out, had a confusion over the hotel wanting to charge it to our booking agent rather than, as our company insists, letting me settle myself. After my experiences since arriving this might have seriously rubbed me the wrong way, but the lady in question (her badge said 'Daniela', in case anyone at the hotel is reading this) seemed, uniquely amongst the staff I met during my visit, so genuinely smiley and pleased to see me, eager to help, apologetic for any delay or inconvenience she might have been causing me and ... well ... downright NICE that I couldn't help but smile and apologise back to her for the trouble I was putting her to by insisting on paying at the time. I even felt a bit guilty about my decision, after breakfast, that this was the last time I'd be staying at The Grosvenor.

Dear Rickenbacker_al,

Thank you for your Tripadvisor feedback.

Please accept my apologies that your stay was not more welcoming and relaxing.

It is always disappointing to read that we have not met our normally high levels of customer service and I have spoken at some length with my Front Office and Restaurant teams with regards to your comments to ensure the appropriate action is taken.

I was however pleased to see that upon check out Daniela showed the levels of customer service that we aspire to and I have passed your comments on to her.

I certainly hope that you will stay with us again and please feel free to contact me personally should you have a date in mind.

Kind Regards

Michael Parker – General Manager
