“Basic hotel”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

My daughter and I stayed here from 22nd - 24th March 2013 for a weekend to visit the capital and go to a show (or two). On arrival the hotel felt like an airport terminal. Had to queue to check in and then given incorrect directions to our room - this hotel is huge. Room clean and new refurbished but very basic. Towels very thin and only 3 towels. Breakfast first morning was fine as we were in shortly after the restaurant opened but the second morning the queue was fairly long and the whole restaurant feels like a school canteen. The food was basic but OK choice on cooked and continental fairly limited. If you are looking for a very budget hotel and just somewhere to sleep this maybe the hotel for you although beds were really uncomfortable.

Despite its perfect location -very close to the tube - its rooms were very much neglected and poorly cleaned. Its breakfast was of very low quality-couldn't be eaten- we had to buy our breakfast every night from Tesco mini market opposite to the hotel.
Eventhough its price is low, I would never visit again.

My family and I stayed at the Royal National Hotel on March 12-13, 2013. We had booked our flight with British Airways and received two free nights hotel stay here from the airline. I am glad we did not have to pay for the hotel out of our own pocket. It was very basic and quite noisy at night. I was woken up both nights around 3am to people partying or talking or running up and down the halls. A lot of people staying here are young and in large groups with no respect to others that may be trying to actually sleep at 3am! My husband and I had to yell at the Eurotrash college kids to stop yelling and running outside of our room, which in turn made them angry and they got even more obnoxious and started slamming on our door. The hotel was helpful in rectifying the problem, but was I ever glad to get out of there.
On the plus side, it is a GREAT location. Close to attractions and two blocks from the Underground. There is also a bus stop right outside that will take you to to Trafalgar Square in about 15 minutes. The breakfast is basically cereal, toast and watery juice but is at least something. The thing I probably enjoyed most was the large, deep bathtub! Also, bring a sweater because the rooms are cold and not insulated very well.

Me and my friend stayed at the National Royal from the 14 to the 19th of March 2013. The room we had was modern, clean and quiet. Usual stuff in room i.e tea, coffee, TV, soap and hairdryer Breakfast was also good, full English breakfast included if not the continental breakfast looked very bland. If you are looking for a place to sleep after exploring all the beautiful things London has to offer, you can't go wrong with the Royal National.

This hotel in London is ideal for a short visit to the capital. The hotel is huge and the rooms are quite basic, but it is clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are small but towels and basic toiletries are provided and there is plenty of hot water. The dining room does feel a bit like a school canteen as it is very busy and basic but the breakfast is good and there is plenty of it.
The hotel is just 2 tube stops from Kings Cross, Covent Garden and The British Museum are both within walking distance. The Natural History Museum and The Science Museum are only a short tube ride away. I have stayed at this hotel twice while visiting London with my teenage children and will be returning in October.

Room Tip: The hotel is very big and the lifts are quite small. If you have small children or mobility problems...

Stayed here for one night for was a lads weekend.
Arrived on Saturday at 11.45am and when we walked into reception it was like being in a train station-very busy and lively!!
Then trying to check in was like queuing at a busy flight check in desk!!This is due to this being the largest hotel in the capital.
We were early and the porter kept our bags till we returned.
We later returned and got into our rooms.Due to the vast size of the hotel our room took some finding the first time.
Rooms were very basic, tidy had kettle and coffee but in need of a makeover.
Bathrooms small and effective and no expense spared with the quality of towels and toiletries.
After a night out our night was peaceful but disturbed at 8.30am by the eager cleaner.
Breakfast was ok but have had better.
Check out at 11am and for 50p the porter will store bags which was good as our train was later on that day.
All in all Royal National good for location and a sleep-nothing else makes an impression.

As soon as i got there, there was a arrest, saw a guy in a kilt being dragged out of the hotel, not a good start and now for the room. Heater on all night, window open all night and slept right next to the main road, tv was in foreign, didn't know how to use it, shower was appalling so confusing to use, hardly enough milk to even have a proper tea for 1 person and there were 3 of us, breakfast was SHOCKING toast was left on the side and you could fold it without it breaking, NEVER GO TO THIS HOTEL even the kettle took AGES to finish with only little water in!
