Eaten here several times. The staff and friendly and courteous, nothing too much trouble. There is a good range of dishes, all excellently cooked and fresh. Reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?!

Nice food done well in this Indian restaurant, does all the usual Indian dishes although the menu could do with a bit more explanation on each dish for those less versed in Indian food. The only down side to this restaurant is that it is so small. You expect to be crammed into an Indian restaurant but this place only holds about 20 people so expect to rub shoulders with the other diners. That said the food is good and the service is quick from the friendly waiters.

Ten of us went to the Purbani Restaurant on a Thursday evening. The restaurant is a favourite of one of our group, and it came highly recommended. The inside of the Purbani is very comfortable, although it is quite a small restaurant, you did not feel as if you was intruding onto another table. The staff were first class, very keen to ensure that we had a pleasant time. We all ordered different dishes, and everyone one said their food was fabulous. I had the Chicken Madras, which was divine, a bit on the hot side, but very nice. The Purbani was very busy, even for a Thursday evening. We stayed quite late, and was even offered a free drink on the house. It was a lovely evening, very relaxed, and the staff were simply first class.

It is wrong to assume that all restaurants serving "curry" are Indian: they are not; and in fact most of them are run by Bangladeshis. There are many different styles: India alone has a population of 500m, which does not include Bangladesh, Pakistan or any of the surrounding countries. It would be facile to assume that their food all tastes the same and has the same textures. I am lucky enough to have shared meals, at home and in restaurants with friends from Bombay, Ceylon (as was) Deccan, Goa, Maldives, Punjab and the Afghan/Pakistan border, as well as talking to several award-winning chefs in this country about their food.

I have eaten at Purbani on several occasions, and had food delivered by them to my home. I have to say that I have found it to be flavoursome, gently spiced, of good texture and in good portions. The service is excellent to the extent that, when a delivery was ordered and I was then delayed in traffic, the delivery was agitated that the food might spoil, rather than being annoyed that we had kept him waiting

I recommend this establishment, without hesitation or qualification.
