First opened its doors as a small takeaway back in 1983 by the manager Tony and his sons, and has grown ever since. A family run business from the chef right to the front of the house. Specialist in dining in as well as a takeaway and delivery service covering the local area.

For all those who think this is a good Indian, you obviously have not eaten proper Indian cuisine. Had a takeaway from here and it was only as a last resort. Personally having travelled the world extensively and tasted many a proper curry. I am left speechless that after so many years Brits just don't have a clue what a curry tastes like. This place does not make proper curry's! Their curry has a reminiscence of Pataks curry paste and oil laden bland curry. Synonymous to poorly passed off Indian curries. Better you try Red Mantra @ south woodford. At least it's authentic.

This is my local curry house and the best Indian in Wanstead, one of the best restaurants full stop. Been going here for near on 20 years, never had a bad meal! Great to go to the Feorge next door until closing then have a Midnight Purbani!!
Small and very intimate inside. The curries are varied and taste excellent. Vindaloo, Madras and Biryani are the best and my favourites.

One of the best, Thanks!

The food is not good: Stale soft popadoms; a portion of samosas was very, very small, expensive curries with only 4 small pieces of meat in each; sauces, vegetable side dishes and rice were all very greasy. The wrong food was delivered to the table (lamb instead of chicken in one of the 3 curries and a peshwari instead of a kulcha naan bread). One of the waiters got my other half to order something not on the menu –a Shashlick Bhuna 'special' that was £12 which worked out a £3 for each inch sized cube if meat. We had to ask three times before the Waiter would would tell us how much it cost.

The place is tiny and immensely cramped and on the night of our visit there was a very noisy table of ‘lads’.

Service ran the whole gamut from pushy to obsequious.

I and the other two who ate have nothing positive to say about this place apart from the naan
bread, which even though it was the wrong type was lovely soft and fresh. We felt ripped off and like we had been transported back in time to the mid eighties.

This is our local curry house and we always go back. We have never found one as good as this. The food is very good, the customer service is amazing and they always treat you well. We always go back and always enjoy it. Definatly the best curry house I have ever been too.

A well established local restaurant that never disappoints. Consistency and good value makes it worth repeated visits. Try the green curry which isn't even on the menu.
