“Good hotel central to London”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

I stayed here last weekend with friends and found the hotel rooms spacious for London, clean and just like the photos. The staff was friendly and helpful. The tube station was 5 mins away, a tour bus around the corner and we walked the 10-15mins to Covent Gardens area. I would return and so would be friends. The only thing is the rooms at the front do have abit of noise from the street in the mornings, but no worse than any other central hotel. But if you don't like noise then ask for a back room.

The staff are great, but it's the little things that annoy. For instance - almost everything on the breakfast buffet that should have been hot, was cold - at 7.15AM. So there's no excuse. And shampoo and shower gel weren't replaced on my second day. Really irritating. You pay as much for day two as day one, so the service should be the same. So - in summary - it's okay, but needs to get its act together. Not sure I would choose to stay here again.

I was there for 4 days with my father in the beginning of May.
Let's cut to the chase. The hotel is good. Not spectacular nor poor. Very british design.
We stayed in a double bedroom on the first floor, backyard view. I think our room was the only one with a balcony - which wasn't very useful as the weather was rainy as usual.
There were 2 comfortable single beds with nice and clean sheets.
Carpet all over the floor.
The size of the room is perfect for two people. Don't have any complaints about it.
Room service was good as well.
Now, we did not have breakfast at the hotel as we found it a little bit expensive (something around 17 pounds). Not a big problem. You can walk around and find a good one easily. There are plenty cafeterias walking distance from the hotel.
The surroundings are great. Very nice area to stay in London. You are close to all the West End attractions. We occasionally had to take the tube to meet some friends at their houses.
They charge 5 pound an hour for internet access in the rooms. You can pay for the whole day if you like. I never checked how much was it anyway...
If you are ok with it, they have a PC that guests can use and get online for free.
Basically we were there just for a good night of sleep so it met our expectations.
Hope this helps.

The Grange White Hall Hotel is around the corner from the British Museum, less than a five minute walk to one of the greatest museums in the world! It's about a twelve minute walk to St. Pancras train station. The closest underground station is Russell Square, about a six minute walk away.

The hotel is very pretty. On the ground floor are the reception, small bar and dining room. All the staff were extremely helpful and went out of there way to assist us and make us feel as comfortable as possible.

Our double bedroom was on the second floor and looked out on the back garden and the back of the British Museum. The room was small, but still there was a desk and chair and two bedside tables. The double bed was small, but then if it were any wider there would be less space to walk around in the room. Overall it was very attractive, well lit and very quiet!

There was a notice in the lift saying that the dining room could be busy at breakfast at 9:00 am onwards and that was correct. On the two mornings we were there, there were not enough tables and we had to wait. Then when we were seated it took a while to get coffee and cutlery. The breakfast buffet was fine and all the staff apologised for the delays.

We would definitely stay here again. The staff were excellent. It was relatively good value (London hotels are expensive). It is in a convenient location for trains, underground and buses. The neighbourhood is lovely and safe. We felt very comfortable walking back to the hotel late at night.

I booked the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel last year and was very impressed to I booked Whitehall thinking it would be just as good. The room was tiny and next to the lift shaft. You couldn't even really walk around the room and there was no fridge or mini bar. At check in the staff were rude and unhelpful too. The location was good and the bed was comfy though.

What should have been a great stay was spoilt by lack of attention to detail and room design. The reception was good and we were given lots of help with how things worked in the Hotel and shown to our room. We were in a hurry to be out and about but I noticed there was no kettle which I reported to reception and when we returned one had been put into the room, which was great. We now had time to use the room and found the wardrobe to be very difficult to use because the hanging rail went from front to back instead of across and with hangers which had to be slotted onto a small hole it was nearly impossible to reach or replace any clothes. The dressing table had a lovely swivel chair in front but it was impossible to use because there just wasn't the space to sit down because the bed was in the way. The bathroom was well decorated and pleasing on the eye with plenty of soaps etc. but again the design was poor because when you took the towels from the stand on which they were folded there wasn't any place to hang them and they just got in the way.
The room we had was downstairs below the breakfast room and we were awoken early every day by staff running about serving breakfasts. There should be better sound proofing or they should employ staff who are lighter footed.
Besides all the above the Hotel is in a very convenient position for central London and I would stay again!

Room Tip: Avoid the basement especially room 4

Hotel was well presented even if room a little small, only stayed one night so not a problem. Great central location close to a number of Tube stations. Easy walking distant of pubs, restaurants.
Room was well presented and clean. En suite was small but clean and well laid out. Staff where very helpful.
