Me and my friend stayed here for two nights to go to a muse concert, (which was brilliant because they are amazing) the staff were friendly and helpful and provided free earplugs. There was Halloween party on both nights we stayed, which didn't especially bother us as we didn't get back until midnight on the night of the gig. We were staying during a weekend so we expected it would be a little noisy, but we entered through the back door to avoid the crowd.
We both paid a pound for a key, which was refunded when we left (or you can donate the pound to charity) Our rooms were clean and tidy, with big lockers, didn't bother with a key and nothing was stolen. Two other people stayed in our 8 bed dorm the first night, a boy from Germany who we spoke to and a girl from France who was very quiet.
The second night 6 more people joined are dorm ( i think there must have been a mix up because there were too many people in our room), they were quiet noisy but eventually went to sleep. We expected the worse because it was hostel, the whole idea you share with others who could be coming or going any hour of the night, if you don't like socializing with strangers at three in the morning a hostels probably not you're place.
The toilets were kinda grim that was the only downside, but i have seen far worse.
The best part was breakfast, they just left bags of slice bread, toasters, butter, chocolate spread and peanut butter out on the bar as well as jug of water and squash. I had a slice of toast and half a tub of nutella and we joined a table of strangers for breakfast, so i would say the service is very good for a Hostel :) oh and its just around the corner from the dlr which takes you to the london underground.
