“Wonderful Location!”

Our trip to London was made perfect because of Sanctuary House Hotel. We were within walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey and Bridge, St. James Park, Victoria and St. James Park Tube Station. Our room was very modern and comfortable. The pub downstairs had delicious food. The bathroom shower was marvelous. I didn't have a shower equal to that one during the whole trip! Sanctuary House will be our pick if we are ever in London again. Thank you!!!!

My husband and I have stayed at Sanctuary House Hotel a few times and he has stayed more often on business trips. The staff are courteous, the rooms clean and the hotel has a cosy, personal feel which is rather lacking in larger establishments. Although the views from the rooms are not great, the location is ideal: A stone's throw from Westminster Abbey, quietly situated in a side street, yet close to buses and the Underground, making theatreland within very easy reach.
There is a choice between Full English and Continental Breakfast. The latter is obviously the cheaper option and perfectly adequate as it includes everything from the cold buffet.
The hotel is owned by Fullers brewery. We did not find the downstairs pub to be noisy, as most of the clientele seemed to be office workers who were not staying until closing time. The pub menu for lunch and dinner offers a good choice and there is also a chef's Special.
Considering its location and facilities, Sanctuary Housae offers good value for money and is definitely a place to return to.

Stayed at the Sanctuary Hotel during the Olympics as it was one of the few not 'tripling' their prices during the Olympics !!! and found it was perfect. Within a 5 minute walk to all the central London tourist musts - Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, etc and 100mts from St James tube to get you anywhere else. The room was far better than possibly anticipated - spacious by London standards. Staff were very good, helpful and overall made our stay enjoyable. Couldn't fault it in any way and we will now use this hotel whenever we visit London as the value for money and location beats other more 'illustrious' London hotels easily.

The Sanctuary House Hotel on Totill Street is a very nice hotel. We just stayed there for a week and would definitely return. You cannot beat the location being a block away from an underground stop and a block from one of the major bus routes. The hotel is located in an office district, so you'll need to hunt around the neighborhood for places to eat although the hotel's pub serves good food and it is a great place in its own right.

Our room was on the corner overlooking the street and there was construction ongoing on the side street that. Surprisingly, we didn't have any noise issues at all. The room was very spacious although it could have used a little more drawer space. One of the 'drawers' is taken up with the safe. There are plenty of convenient outlets in the room to charge all your electronic devices and the bathroom was very nice with both a large-head shower and a sprayer. The hotel is very clean and well appointed. The bed is comfortable enough and large.

The hotel is situated just a block from Westminster Abbey, two from Big Ben. While the closest underground stop, St James Park Station only has stairs, there are only a couple small flights. We'd read that if you are hauling your luggage, you should go to Westminster or walk from Victoria. However, unless you a physically disabled, do not heed that advice. The number of stairs is not bad and is really much better then riding three of four escallators from the bowels of the earth, which is what we initially did upon our arrival. We departed using the closer, less automated St James Park with two full sized bags and four carry-ons.

More on the hotel ... luxurious towels, a full bath tub and a great shower. They offer both a continental and full breakfast with the room; however, the cost is a bit steep. We opted out when making our reservations but, upon our arrival, we were given the full breakfast by the attending front desk clerk because we were staying seven nights with them. That was a nice surprise but I don't know if that is typical or was something that she just happened to do for us. I will say that the breakfast leaves a little to be desired but since we got it free, I cannot complain. Other meals that we had there were very good.

The only real issue we had besides the drawers it that the in-room refrigerator is set into an unvented cabinet and won't keep things cold. This is easily remedied by blocking the cabinet door open. After one day, the housekeeper got the hint and left it open. From then on, it did a fine job.

The bottom line is that we will stay there again in the future without hesitation. They have good online deals especially considering the area.

Room Tip: Although we didn't see other rooms, I'd try for a corner room. If nothing else, you get lot...

We were staying in London unexpectedly and booked The Sanctuary last minute and we were so glad we did - as previous writers have said it is centrally located, easy to walk everywhere. The rooms have very smart, modern interiors and although small, the beds are not, something difficult to find in a lot London hotels, so definitely a plus point. The 24 hour reception staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast offered all you could wish for. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: We had room 203, overlooking the road to the front of the hotel, we weren't disturbed by any noi...

4 nights at Sanctuary House and we really enjoyed it, had big expectations after the website and weren't disappointed. Sensational location only 1min or so from St James Park tube station and 30secs the other way to Westminster Abbey. 2 min to St James Park.Very clean comfortable good room size. The Intercontinental Hotel was being constructed immediately beside when were there in August so some early work starts but no problems. Classic looking English Pub with the restaurant downstairs which was good, also serves as the breakfast room - good breakfast. Not much around the immediate area for restaurants but never too far from much in London?

Room Tip: We were on the corner on the first floor and overlooked the pub sign and window boxes which had a g...

We have just spent four nights at the Sanctuary House Hotel, and had a lovely time. This is our second visit to the hotel so we knew it would be good.
The hotel is in a great location 2mins from St james Park, 10 mins from Buckingham palace and 10 mins from Westminster Bridge, we tend to walk every where, you cannot see London from a tube, so this hotel is an ideal base.
Since our last visit the hotel has had some refurbishment and the rooms are now modern and very confortable. The rooms do overlook the a busy road so expect some traffic noise but it tends to be quite through the night.
The pub downstairs is excellent and the food is very nice, this is were you have your breakfast we opted for the continental which was plentiful and very good.
The only gripe we had was the building works next door, which unfortunatley did annoy us especially in the mornings,we were in room 102, then moved to 407, but the staff and Sol the general manager handled our complaint professionally. The hotel sadly has no control over how other companies behave, and are trying their best to help customers who have a problem with this issue. The staff on reception and in the bar were always very helpfull and pollite.
We would definitley reccomend this hotel to any one, as great base for a visit to London.
We would definitely return to Sanctuary House
