I stayed here for 3 nights in late Jan early Feb. Ideal location close to Tube stations (lancaster Gate for the central Line and Paddington for the District and Circle Line. room was comfortable and clean. Nice carpet on the stairs,
Standard Continental Breakfast OK, no windows in Breakfast room, (tea and coffee stewed, but you can have it in your room yourself).
Plenty of restaurants around, try Spice of India around the corner in Bathurst St if you like that is to your taste (much better than going to Brick Lane IMHO). I had a very nice meal there.
Big plus beside Hyde Park, get out early to see the sun rise over the Serpentine. Take a walk across Hyde Park to the Albert Hall and down Exhibition Road to the Museums. Spend a stress free day away from London Transport (or whatever Boris calls it now).
Reasonably priced, would stay again, Renovation materials still in the Hall, just like my house sometimes, Breakfast man has a unique way of making sure you get tea or coffee.
Room has a continental socket as well as UK . I would not hesitate to stay again. I was able to leave my luggage. I took the tube to and from Heathrow, takes about an hour. i did not have a small room, was in a room for three, Quite satisfied but if you want 4 star the Lancaster is around the corner at more than double the price
