We stayed at this hotel with another couple in early September 2010. We shared the family room on the top floor. The family room had three beds: two twins in a semi-separate room and a double in the "main room." The bathroom was off the main room and was clean and well equipped. Windows opened easily to let fresh air in and the wifi worked 2 of the 3 days we were there. On one of the days we used their printer downstairs to print some coupon for the Big Bus Tour (or something like that) and they didn't even charge us - very friendly staff. Speaking of the staff, the gals serving breakfast were polite and helpful - always willing to bring more food. The food was well cooked and quite good. Location was a short walk to the tube line which was nice; also very convenient for getting on the Big Bus Tour. They have raised their rates a bit for 2011, but it is still a very good value and we would certainly consider staying again.

Excellent value for money, nice breakfast, perfect location, quiet at night, what more could you want? Nice regards to Inga for excellent service. (We would appreciate for lightbulbs to be changed though, when mentioned twice to your collegue).

We will be back!

Parkwood was located just down the street from Hyde Park which is a wonderful place to walk and enjoy the lake. The hotel was really cozy, personal, and accomodating. The rooms were very clean and attractive. The breakfasts were delicious and they had a very nice variety of choices. I think it was a great choice for the price and location! I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I am spending my last of 6 nights here and I have to say that this place is fantastic..... The position is unbelievable the breakfasts great and the service friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but it is London and I have a good room at the front..... I seriously cannot fault this b and b in any way.... Yes there are mattresses stuck in corners and the stairs are a nightmare if you have a large suitcase like mine but who cares..... The great outweighs the highly little things.... Stay here and be amazed

If all the positive reviews I've read based their opinions on the location of this hotel, then I'd say yup, it's good. But it's a pleasant stay cannot be based on location alone. We had booked for our room months in advance because we wanted them to make sure we get a room on the ground floor for our heavy luggage. When we arrived, we have been told that the lady staying in our designated room went out of town and forgot to check out so we have to stay in a room at the basement. Since we have no choice, off we went to that dungeon of a room. The bed felt like it was made of cardboard, the sheets had holes and smell of mold, the bathroom exhaust cover was kept in place by the shampoo sachets they wedged into it. It was the most horrible hotel stay I've had in my travelling life. The next morning, after breakfast, we almost couldn't enter our room because housekeeping left an ironing board in front of our door. Hoping that our real room would be an improvement after moving to it the next morning, it was quite a disappointment to see that the only difference was the size of the room and a more acceptable shower. We were so gratified to move to another hotel the very next day.

It was unfortunate that the guest that had been staying in their room for several days previously decided, on the morning of their arrival, to stay on for another day and left on an early-morning tour. She was asked to move to another room as we knew that the arriving guests wanted a room on a lower floor but this didn't suit her as she was short on time and had lots of luggage. In the circumstances, it was decided that it would be best to put the arriving guests into a room on the lower ground floor level for 1 night and then move them up to their originally designated room on the upper ground floor. As recompense for their trouble in having to switch rooms they were given a 50% refund.
We were certainly surprised to receive such an uncharacteristic review of the Parkwood but we did all that we could to satisfy both sets of guests. However, we clearly failed with the guest that sent in this review.

I booked a room at this hotel as it had the best reviews and offered the best value for money in London, compared to many horror stories written about other more expensive hotels. As a result I was expecting a lot from this place, and overall it was a good stay.

Firstly the location is fantastic - 2 minutes walk from Hyde Park, Oxford Circus, Edgware Road and Marble Arch tube station, what more could you ask for? So definitely a great base from which to explore the capital.

Secondly the staff are very friendly. They were willing to allow me to check in slightly earlier, and you can leave your bags in the reception if you have to be off somewhere else for the whole of the day. Even though the reception closes at 10pm you still get your own key to open the front door so you can stay out as late as you like!

Next there is a very good breakfast included in the price which you should take advantage of, and the place itself is very clean, even the shared bathroom!

The only downside was my room. It was right on the top floor and I had to climb 80 steps to get to it! So if you have any leg joint, heart or lung illnesses then try to get a room lower down. The room seemed to be small and converted from being something else like a store room, but it had a nice decor and like I've said in the title it was sufficient for a young solo traveller like myself. I think I'd come here again if on my own though not with other people who might be picky. But then it's either this or the apparent hellholes in Paddington which are more expensive!

We were given a warm welcome on arrival, and shown to our room ,the room was clean and of a nice size which was unexpected due to the location. The room had a shower and separate toilet. The hotel/guest house was a minute walk to marble arch, and a 2 minute walk to the beginning of oxford street.Buses and taxi ran passed the end of the road frequently, and hyde park was just across the subway.During our stay we were made welcome and nothing seemed to much trouble. The breakfast was cereal, fresh fruit juices,as much toast brown and white you could eat,as well as a full english breakfast, with eggs cooked several ways. When we had finished,we were asked if we wanted anymore cooked items, but we were both full to the brim.I would recommend a stay at this hotel/guest house, well worth the money.
