I have been staying at the Parkwood hotel on and off for the past 15 years or more. I stayed there in January 2014 and found that it was just as good as before!
This time though I was in the family suite, (room 11). This is composed of two adjoining rooms with no door separating them. The suite also has a bathroom with a shower, so is quite convenient for family members sharing accommodation. Both rooms have TVs, and one of the rooms is equipped with tea and coffee making supplies. The room faces the back of the hotel, overlooking mews, and is so quiet that it is hard to belive that you are just a short distance from Marble Arch. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.
I stayed there again just for one night when I had a single room also equipped with a bathroom and shower.
As always the staff in the reception area are very friendly and helpful with local attractions and nearby restaurant suggestions. The cost of the room includes breakfast served downstairs in a bright dining area. The breakfast includes juice, cereals, tea coffee and a wide choice of cooked foods including a full English breakfast. There is a note at the bottom of the menu saying that if you are still hungry...just ask!
An added bonus is that if you are leaving and returning the staff will allow you to leave a suitcase for a few days. Also while the rooms are equipped with phones, the staff do warn you that the cost of calls including local calls can mount up quickly. WiFi is available throughout the hotel.
The only negative is that there is no elevator and towards the top of the hotel the stairs become quite narrow and steep. If you have difficulty with carrying luggage you might want to ask for a room on the ground or first floor.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the hotel do not have street noise, but Stanhope Place is not the noisiest place in London.

Central, accessible, great staff and pleasant atmosphere. It's easy to get to all the sights due to the location and proximity to bus stops and metro stations. Fantastic budget hotel and would (will hopefully!) stay there again in a heart beat!

Stayed two nights.
Great location but very small.
We stayed in the lower floor next to the breakfast room.
The room was ridiculously small and the shower was even more ridiculous.
The breakfast was great and the staff friendly however unless your a small person its not for you.

Firstly, I wanted to thank Bob for being fair enough to point out the top location (grading us 5 out of 5), friendly staff and "great breakfasts". Fortunately, for others to make up their own minds about whether the room and shower are small for a central London B&B there are 4 photographs of the room in question, room 18, and its shower that were provided by an earlier guest in August 2010 and you can see them on Tripadvisor's Traveller's Photos, they are photo. nos. 37, 38, 39 and 40. His review was headed "Cannot be faulted for the price" which, I think, says it all.

fabulous location, 2 minutes from oxford street and Hyde Park, clean and comfortable, stayed in room 12A which was en-suite, lovely bathroom but a little tired but very clean, fabulously friendly staff, lovely breakfast, what more can you ask for.

Room Tip: ask for an en-suite, rooms on the 3rd floor to be attempted only if you can climb a lot of stairs.
