Parkwood at Marble Arch

The Parkwood is just what is required for a weekend in London. The rooms are clean, tidy and well equipped with everything one would need, The staff were most polite and helpful and the breakfast was a real bonus. You just do not get this sort of quality for the price anywhere else in London. If you want to spend £330-£400 a night then you ae welcome. But on a budget, this is the place. Cannot recommend highly enough!

This was my second stay at Parkwood and yet again it met our needs perfectly. The location is ideal, just blocks from the Marble Arch tube station, near Hyde Park. The staff are eager to please, hardworking and reliable. The rooms are small, after all it is London, but well equipped and clean. The breakfast room is very pleasant and there is plenty to eat, with a full assortment of cereals, juices, toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, beans and tomato and a bottomless coffee pot (or tea). I recommend this hotel without reservation, except for those unable to climb stairs to the rooms as there is no lift. It is a well managed facility and a great place to stay.

Room Tip: If you have issues with stairs ask for a room on a lower floor.

We stayed at the Parkwood for a family birthday get together early September. The hotel is typical of central London really, a proper "town house" hotel. the staff are very accomodating, really helped me and my husband out when we had a query and offered good advice about where to eat and how to get to places. The price is excellent value, considering you are walking distance from Oxfod Street, Hyde Park, Oxford Circus and mmost other attractions. My dad with a dodgy ankle even walked back from the London eye. Hot breakfast in the morning really starts you out and you can have any combination of what is on the menu. Rooms were clean and surprisingly quiet considering you are in Central London. A hidden gem and I would certainly return (hopefully before christmas to do some shopping!)

We stayed at the Parkwood for three nights as a post cruise after our British Isles cruise. There are many mixed reviews about the hotel so here is mine.
First, the location is just about as good as it gets in London. It is on a quiet street, in a diverse neighborhood. It is easily accessible to Hyde Park, and tube stations. We even took pleasant walk to Buckingham Palace from the hotel. There several good pubs in the area, We found the Three Tun pub, about a ten minute walk to be one of our favorites. The staff was friendly and very helpful with our questions and helped us set up our transfer to the Heathrow when we had to leave. A very nice “English breakfast” is served daily with cooked to order eggs.
Our room was average size by US standards and rather large by some standards we have found in other parts of the world. Most of the rooms are above the main floor and the hotel has no elevator. We knew this so we packed one suitcase for use while in London and left the rest of our luggage in the office/sitting room.
The hotel could use some updating. There are signs of wear and tear throughout the building. As a contractor I found the maintenance to be less than professional and in some cases somewhat shabby. Still, looking at the location, the cost of the room, which by London standards is quite reasonable, and the great staff I would recommend this establishment.

We have stayed in this lovely hotel for the last two years as a family of four, location is excellent as its a two minute walk to Oxford Street. Rooms are always clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast was to die for as it gives you a good choice and cooked fresh to your needs. The staff are always friendly and accommodating to our needs. We are returning to this hotel in Feb 2013 as a small break for our family. Upon reading other reviews this only reiterates our views about Parkwood. You certainly get looked after for the price you pay considering other local London hotels - would definitely recommend this hotel.

We booked this hotel based on the info on their website...the representation is fraudulent . the rooms are incredibely run down & tiny, there is no room to place your luggage , the bathroom could best be described as primitive.
The breakfasts were adequate , hardly tje way they ate described.
JANUSZ at reception was very helpful & that was appreciated.
All in all a very unpleasant stay, would not reccomend it to amyone.

In view of the comments by this guest we have placed 3 photos of her room in the Photos section of our entry on the Tripadvisor website for others to make up their own minds, they each have "Room 9" in the title. In particular we are surprised by the description of the bathroom as "primitive", particularly as we have had very positive reviews from other guests who have stayed in the same room and it has a new shower, wash-basin and toilet and was retiled last year, floor and walls.
We were full at the time so were unable to offer her a different room and as she was in London for 3 nights the receptionist offered to find her another B&B in the immediate area but she turned down this offer as she "couldn't be bothered to move".
We have reviewed again all the information on our website and cannot find anything that could remotely be considered a "fraudulent representation" of the Parkwood.
