“Always Nice...”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

My wife and I stayed at The Goring this past January for just one night while on our way to East Africa. The Goring is always very nice and the staff is first class all the way.
Our room had a beautiful view of the garden and included a walk in shower. Nice for us Yanks.
How great is their service...when a zipper on my wives pullover sweater broke, we mentioned it the the concierge. He said they have a man on staff that may be able to fix it. When I told him that we had to leave early the next morning and he said that he would take care of it. Sure enough, the next morning it was as good as new.
In my opinion the first place to think of when you stay in London.

Room Tip: Room 37 has a walk in shower. Nice for us Yanks.

Dear MerSoleil72,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your stay with us last month.

We were delighted that you made a stop with us on your journey to East Africa. I am thrilled that Mo from our Concierge Team was able to repair your wife’s zip. He is incredibly skilled and everything he repairs looks like new once he has worked his magic.

We all look forward to welcoming you back to The Goring and thank you for recommending us as the first place to think of when planning a trip to London.

With warmest wishes,

We keep trying other London Hotels, but keep coming back to the Goring. Why? The Goring would have a difficult problem trying to get any better than they have been for the past 5 years. It is my opinion the Goring is simply the BEST British hotel in London. I also suggest The Goring is one of the "Best Baby Grand hotels" in the world. They constantly plow profits into improvements and updating the suites. We stayed in a recently redesigned suite # 34. Fabulous bathrooms, great lighting and excellent attention to every detail. When you arrive say hello to Peter Sweeney at the front door. He has been there greeting thousands of guests for 45 years. Chance are he will remember your name the next time you visit. The Goring location is the best, just next door to Buckingham Palace. Staying at the Goring is very convenient when visiting the Queen. Kate Middleton chose the Goring to spend her last night prior to her wedding to HRH Prince William.

LUXURY ACCOMMODATION IN LONDON Today, The Goring is regarded the favourite address for anyone looking for the quintessentially English hotel in the heart of London. A hotel where every member of the team takes terrific pride in offering the highest levels of personal service, where guests are sincerely welcomed and can enjoy elegant individual accommodations, the tranquillity of its own private Gardens, and the utterly splendid Lounge Bar and Dining Room where the very best of British food and been celebrated for over a century. With just 69 rooms and suites The Goring is truly a “Baby Grand”, the finest of hotels in the perfect location but with the most intimate of atmospheres and personalised attention.

FINE WINES AT THE GORING Of course the drinks are perfect, of course the wine list is exceptional and of course the place is sumptuous in the extreme. But the Bar at the Goring is really about the people and the ambiance. This is not one of those “hotel bars” - it is more a London landmark. The lovable Irish rogue Brian Kinsella runs the show here and his humor and charm set the tone. But what strikes one first is the constant hum of London eccentrics, ladies-who-lunch, dignitaries, media odd-balls, sports stars, Lords, Ladies and gentlemen who fill the space with their antics on a daily basis. The Goring lounge is a place for you to relax and unwind. So we ask you to help us preserve your fellow guests' sense of tranquility by switching off your mobile telephone, letting us look after your computer (or keeping it in its bag!), hiding away all those business papers and..... sitting back and relaxing.

FINE DINING & BRITISH CUISINE With its interior designed by David Linley, The Dining Room is the destination restaurant for proper British cuisine. Whether bathed in natural light by day, or sumptuously aglow with custom Swarowski chandeliers at night, this restaurant has the buzz without losing the elegance. Prime Rib with Yorkshire Pudding and vegetables is the thing to order.

Room Tip: Suite # 34

Dear Ron C,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your most recent stay at The Goring

We were thrilled to welcome you back to the hotel and even more delighted that despite sampling other London hotels, we are the only one for you. It is always lovely to welcome back old friends and to hear that they have enjoyed the renovations we have made to the hotel over the years.

We all look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel for another drink in our Lounge Bar served by the infamous Brian Kinsella followed by Sunday luncheon in our Dining Room with the beef from the trolley and of course Yorkshire puddings!

With warmest wishes,

I am unable to be objective. I am in love with The Goring. This is still an hotel with style. And with memory. Isn't it wonderful to be greated by name even if you are guest o ly once or twice a year ? Critics ? I love to prepare a first cup of coffee in my room before waking up my wife. Well , here I can't. The prices are slightly high, especially if you book an additional room on a saturday evening, the hotel not being outbooked, you would expect a bit mote generosity.

Dear roy r,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your recent stay at The Goring

We were all thrilled to read your review and we were delighted to welcome you back to The Goring once again. I am sorry that you were unable to brew your first cup of coffee or the day. Here at The Goring we prefer for guests not to lift a finger and for us to brew their tea and coffee for them just the way they like it. However please do let us know if you would like a hospitality tray in your room and of course we will arrange this for your next stay.

The team and I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel that you are in love with.

My husband an I flew in to London and as a treat we stayed at the Goring. From the moment we arrived we were treated as very welcomed guests and every thing was waiting for us. Our room was a welcome sight with a little touch of home - some sheep footstools :)
We had dinner booked in the restaurant which lived up to our expectations as was breakfast the next day. The hotel staff are very relaxed and attentive without being over the top. The location is perfect for walking about the neighbourhood. We visited Aspley House and a walk down to the palace. After we left the hotel for our apartment in Kensington we went back for lunch on another day.
We will be back again for this experience

Dear Jacquie H,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your stay with us in August of last year.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your treat at The Goring. It is true we are very lucky with our location as many of London’s top sites are within moments of the hotel including Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station is also just around the corner.

We look forward to welcoming you back to The Goring on your next trip to London whether it is for another treat of an overnight stay or for lunch in our Dining Room. The sheep will of course be waiting in your room.

With warmest wishes,

An amazing and memorable family experience which was part of my husband's birthday celebrations, where not only the food was delicious, the staff were faultless. They have a wonderful ability of predicting every need before you have even realised it yourself, right down to producing the most exquisite boxes allowing us to take the left over birthday cake home.

A heartfelt thank you to the two staff members who found my autistic son, he had decided to explore upstairs in the lift to the fourth floor just as we were about to leave! They couldn't have been more calm, professional and so understanding.

We will definitely return and I can't recommend this wonderful hotel highly enough.
