“AMAZING YET AGAIN!”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

2nd visit this year to the wonderful Goring Hotel as a 60th birthday treat for my sister. Could not believe that we got yet another upgrade-but this time to a suite! And a lovely handwritten birthday card with chocolates for the birthday girl. Thank you Alison for your warm welcome on our arrival & also many thanks to all the staff for a very memorable stay. Hope to visit again early next year.

We were thrilled to welcome you back to The Goring after your stay earlier in the year especially for such a wonderful occasion. Stayed one night and felt thoroughly spoilt! The ambience is elegant, peaceful, traditional and very English! The staff are friendly and helpful. The concierge sourced theatre tickete for Yes Prime Minister at very short notice and our seats were in the 3rd row! Our bedroom was quite small however the furnishings were awesome! My husband loved the electric curtains! (almost a gadget!). There is a turn down service, which I really like hotels to do. The breakfast was nicely served and not a buffet (hooray!). Yes, it is expensive to stay here, but it is so worth it. So, go on treat yourself or some one special, you won't regret it. We will definately stay here again on our next trip to London.

Dear Ruth S,

Thank you very much for taking your time to write about your recent stay at The Goring.

I am thrilled that you felt so spoilt whilst you were with us and that our electric curtains were such a hit with your husband! Our Concierge team are brilliant at sourcing tickets for our guests even if it is at the last minute they always manage to come up trumps with the best seats in the house.

The team and I look forward to welcoming you back to The Goring for another treat and please do talk to Oliver and his team about our rooms when you make your reservation so that we are able to offer you the perfect one.

With best wishes,

I have stayed at The Goring several times over the past 20 years and each time is a refreshing reminder of what perfection in facilities, food, service and personal attention can really be like.
The rooms are elegant and comfortable - It's located @ a block from Victoria Station and near Buckingham Palace - It's still family owned & the owner holds a cocktail party for the guests on Sundays - The service is "the best" I've encountered in a hotel, very professional but with a personal touch like remembering your name (The doorman greeted me by name as I got out of the cab) - The dining room has excellent food, an example is Sunday dinner of Prime beef & Yorkshire Pudding & don't forget their Cheese Cart - High tea is an experience not to be forgotten - The Consierge is excellent for everything from dining recommendations, getting tickets to hard to come by shows, information on walking tours of London's unique offerings, best street markets, directions to the London Silver vaults to shop for antique silver, etc., etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a sheep in your room.

Dear Amazing75,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review of your stays with us at The Goring. It is always a pleasure to welcome back familiar faces time and time again.

It is true Big John and his team know everything about London whether it be where to dine or where to find some hidden gems. I certainly believe that what they don’t know isn’t worth knowing! The team as a whole pride themselves on ensuring our guests feel completely at home whether it be in the Dining Room or the Lounge Bar.

We do hope that you will return to The Goring in the near future if only to sample Chef’s cheese trolley!

We booked this trip to coincide with our Silver Wedding Anniversary - my wife had always wanted to stay here. We arrived mid-afternoon on the Friday - the commissionaire was wonderful, and the front of house staff were extremely attentive. We were shown to our room, and it seems that somebody had told them of our celebrations (and to the hotels credit they remained discreet about the source of the information). The room was spotless, albeit the view was somewhat restricted, but not of any concern as we were in the middle of London and not everyone can have a view!

The service was second to none - nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who took the time to remember your name rather than just calling you "Sir" or "Madam". Food was excellent, despite a couple of "hiccups", which were immediately sorted out. The rear garden area is wonderful - a small oasis of calm in the middle of the city. This was one time where staying in the hotel was an actual part of the trip rather than being just somewhere to dump your bags and sleep between other activities. Staying here was wonderful, and our two night stay seemed like a week - thank you "The Goring" for sharing in our celebrations.

The Goring Hotel wants you to leave happy - we did, and are planning another trip there soon for another family celebration.

The secret jewel of London. The only 5* hotel I know that does give any effort to be "luxurious", because it simply defines and instructs the term "luxuriousness". Best breakfast experiance we ever had; instead of crowded, overloaded breakfast buffets we enjoyed a superb a la carte breakfast. Lunch was excellent too, but I would appreciate there a less crowded environment. If only the rooms were a little more spacious..but this is a coomon problem in London hotels.

Dear Depy_12,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review and for describing as ‘the secret jewel of London’. What an amazing accolade for us and we are thrilled that you have found us.

The team are delighted that you found you stay to be truly luxurious from the beginning to end. I do agree with you that breakfast at The Goring is something not to be missed. There is something so peaceful about the Dining Room at that time and with so much to choose from the menu it is truly the best way to start the day. Our Dining Room does tend to be far busier at luncheon but please do let us know if you would like us to accommodate you on a quiet table when you next dine with us so we can ensure you enjoy it as much as your breakfast.

On your next visit to The Goring please do discuss your room requirements with Oliver and his team so that they can ensure you have a room that you will truly love and be able to relax in.

Thank you so much again for your wonderful review and we look forward to welcoming you both back to The Goring.

With warm regards,

Dear lewisartantiques,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review and for describing us at the best place in London for Afternoon Tea.

It is true The Goring was opened in 1910 by O. R. Goring and it still run 102 years later by his great grandson Jeremy Goring who took over from his father in 2005. Our team are thrilled that you enjoyed your tea with us and that they made it everything you expected.

We all hope that you will return to our family run hotel in the near future.

Everything about the afternoon tea I had at the Goring was wonderful. The food was fresh, delicious and abundant, the selection of teas was fantastic and very diverse and the staff were friendly and helpful - attentive, but not over the top.

It's not a cheap afternoon tea by any stretch of the imagination, but it is worth every penny.

Dear ShelbyFrootcake,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your Afternoon Tea at The Goring. What an accolade to be described as the best you have ever had.

I am delighted that your whole experience was one that you will never forget. Our team in the pastry headed up by Ian produce such an amazing array of tea time treats it is hard to say no as they just keep on flowing! We pride ourselves on our selection of teas; Jeremy is a bit of a connoisseur without a doubt his favourite is The Goring Afternoon Blend.

The tea and I hope that you will return for another Afternoon Tea extravaganza or to sample the culinary delights of our Dining Room.
