“The Best!”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

Medlar is perfect! Absolutely delightful food, excellent and attentive service, an extensive wine list - we recommend you try it, Impossible not to come away from the restaurant disappointed.

It's difficult to get a table but well worth the wait. Five stars for sure!

“Stylish, understated and very good food”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

It was a special occasion, and my wife picked this place because of its Chez Bruce connection. The place is not very big, and has an understated elegance to it. The emphasis is definitely French (no prosecco by the glass; just champagne). The wine list is long, but there are recommendations from the sommelier, and the staff are very helpful. The wine is not cheap, but then nor is the food (all our mains were super), and you can expect to spend upwards of £75 per head with wine. The cheese selection is extensive, though only comes with biscuits. It would ave been great to have had some fruit or quince.

Overall, a very good experience, and one where the emphasis is on the right things.

“Lucky find”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

We were staying nearby and looking for somewhere for a Sunday lunch before heading home. Were lucky to get the last table available for Sunday lunch. Fantastic french classic cooking, very friendly and down to earth staff, good wine list....... We were glad to find it and will be returning.

“Good food in a friendly, informal setting”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

We had a great evening out at the Medlar and would love to go again. The delicious food was served by attentive staff and accompanied by an excellent wine recommended by the knowledgeable and enthuiastic wine waiter. It's on the King's road and easy to get to, the menu is simple but varied, the wine list is varied and mostly affordable and overall it is reasonably priced. I struggled to get the time I wanted on the online booking system and eventually gave up and phoned them; they were very helpful and I got exactly what I wanted and, later, they even managed to squeeze in an extra person at short notice.

“Superb cooking and incredible value”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We had a very good lunch indeed at Medlar earlier this month and were impressed with both the standard of cooking and the incredible value -- 26 quid for three courses in central London! As well as with the wide choice of tempting dishes at each course. I also liked the policy of serving several wines in either a 125 ml glass, 500 ml carafe or standard 750 ml bottle. High points -- the fillet and cheek of middle white pork with boudin blanc main course, the crab raviolo starter and the prune and armagnac ice cream served with financiers (small, warm and moist little muffin-type cakes. Delicious.) Service is attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
