We arrived late Thurday evening for a three-night stay, prebooked a month in advance. Upon arrival we were checked into a room on the sublevel below ground. The room smelled of damp, was small, dark and not very clean. Tried to switch rooms, but were told that the hotel was fully booked. Based on this room I would rate the hotel 1-2 out of five.
The two following nights we had a room on the first floor which was a a vast improvement. A bit worn, but otherwise very nice. Clean, high ceilinged and light. A bit small, which was expected in London. If we had been gived this room the first night, our grade would have been higher.
The staff was helpful, but we were obviously dissappointed to receive the dismal first room when we hade booked in advance. Breakfast was satisfactory.More
