Given its proximity to Trafalgar Square, I was a little skeptical about the Sherlock Holmes pub.
We'd had a very disappointing experience previously at the Lord Moon of the Mall, which is a similar distance away. Happily, this is a delightful pub, obviously appreciated and patronised by non-tourists, which usually bodes well, in my opinion - even though I am one of those tourists.
We each enjoyed a pint and steak pie there. It was extremely busy, given the time of day when commuters are delaying their trip home during rush hour. However, the atmosphere was convivial and we had no trouble getting our pints and placing our food order, which came quickly. The steak pies were delicious.
I would certainly recommend this pub.
