Given its proximity to Trafalgar Square, I was a little skeptical about the Sherlock Holmes pub.
We'd had a very disappointing experience previously at the Lord Moon of the Mall, which is a similar distance away. Happily, this is a delightful pub, obviously appreciated and patronised by non-tourists, which usually bodes well, in my opinion - even though I am one of those tourists.

We each enjoyed a pint and steak pie there. It was extremely busy, given the time of day when commuters are delaying their trip home during rush hour. However, the atmosphere was convivial and we had no trouble getting our pints and placing our food order, which came quickly. The steak pies were delicious.

I would certainly recommend this pub.

Me and my partner popped in on a Monday lunchtime for a drink and lunch.
Drinks were fine, although the Sherlock Holmes ale was not available, which being a Sherlock Holmes pub was disapointing!
We ordered 2 sandwiches, - 30 Minutes later and still nothing. We saw the Chef/Cook outside having a Ciggarette so we though "Maybe she will cook ours after she has finished? (I Hope she washes her hands!!)
Still 10 minutes later and no lunch, other people were receiving theres after they had come in after us. Finally after 45 minutes, I went to the bar and asked where our Lunch was, We was told the ticket had not been moved along, However they would do ours next,
When they did arrive, we was told it took so long becuase "The Chicken takes longer to cook fresh, if we had ordered Fish and Chips it would of only took 15 minutes"
In other words - You forgot out order!?
Sandwiches were Average at best and at nearly £8 each, I think we would of been better not ordering -
To be Positive the Fish & Chips looked better!
Manager cleared the plates and it would of been nice for a free drink or a pud because of the wait, but we unfortunately left feeling like it was our fault for ordering a Chicken sandwich that gave us a very sour taste in our Mouths.
Will return JUST for a drink, and maybe some crisps.

What a cozy pub with so much atmosphere. Lots of English enjoying a pint outside the pub-fun to people watch. We enjoyed our "Pimm's" filled with fruit--total Summer drink. It's a few feet off the sidewalk so it's calmer--a great thing in crazy London!

We went in for lunch before a river trip about 3 blocks away. Looked like a nice normal pub. Wrong choice! 45 min wait for drinks! Another 35 for food and grouchy servers. Not to mention the mice securing about! Yuck!

Loved the interior up and down- upstairs there is a windowed off area showing Holmes' in
his study- fun photo op-actually the it is his dummy he used that Moriarity shot at- hence the hole
in his head, as it explains. Fish and chips very good- large portions- plenty of fries, good Pimm's
Upstairs had lots of photos from the old movies and there is a small outdoor balcony area to eat in. Worth a visit!
