“An interesting place to spend an hour”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Spent a good hour or so wandering around looking at London living rooms over the last 400 years or so. I'm not a big museum fan but this was quite interesting especially some of the more recent rooms with a nostalgia trip.

“Christmas past”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Such a lovely hidden gem in East London. Their annual Christmas past exhibition is a delight, dont miss the tearoom or the shop.

“Dull museum and very poor food in cafe”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We visited the Geffrye Museum recently after a gap of many years. It is now extended but we found the exhibits disappointing and rather dull. It seems a shame to have a museum of furniture and textiles in Hackney, with no relationship to the local area and the craftspeople who used to work there.

Lunch in the restaurant/cafe was very disappointing. The room is great with lots of windows the overlook the garden, the tables are nice and big and are not cramped, but the food was awful. The food is described on the menu as traditional and modern English home cooked food - but the dishes we ordered were under seasoned, dull, with soggy pastry that had clearly been through a microwave oven.

“A hidden gem”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

We arrived on a day when the almshouses were open for a visit. This was excellent with someone in each room to explain where necessary. The main museum is also excellent with differently dated rooms on display.
