Owner description: Admission to the Cathedral is free but donations are gratefully received Tower Lift - £6 adult; £3 concession; £14 family ticket (2 adult and 2 children) If you enter the Cathedral at a quiet moment in the day, don’t imagine that it is always like this. Westminster Cathedral must be one of the busiest churches in the United Kingdom. Located in the heart of London, it is the mother-church of England & Wales. People are drawn to this great edifice from all over London, all over the country and the world. If you are trying to imagine ‘what goes on’ here, consider that there are seven masses each day, many great services of worship on special occasions and unique gatherings of every description which fill the Cathedral to the doors. Westminster Cathedral Choir, justly renowned for consistent excellence, sings at the Solemn Mass each evening - with few exceptions. Even when no public ceremony is taking place, the private prayer of individual believers is a work of faith, continuously in progress. The Cathedral is a sacred space at the heart of a great city, dedicated to the worship of God.

“Beautiful church and amazing view of London”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

This lovely cathedral located just blocks from Victoria Station is a quiet place to settle for awhile outside of London's hectic pace. It is the largest Catholic cathedral in England, but not to be confused with Westminster Abbey, which is a part of the Church of England, and located about a half mile away. The main church is rimmed with small beautiful chapels. Photography is allowed inside, unless a mass is being conducted. Touring the cathedral is free(donations) are accepted, a small cafe located in the basement sells light meals, and a gift shop is also available. For £5 (paid in the gift shop), you can take the lift up 7 stories into the tower and observe the city of London vista - well worth the charge.

“A long overdue visit”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

It is a long time since we last took the time to visit Westminster Cathedral. Unlike many we have visited this is modern (turn of the 19th century) and proves that buildings such as this do not have to be old to impress or spark the imagination. We did not see the Crypt or climb the tower but there is still sufficient to admire. We have sometimes been lucky and happened across a live performance in some cathedrals but this time we coincided with a tuning session for the organ. Different to say the least but even from this we could imagine what a performance would be like. You could say the cathedral is unfinished insofar as the underside of the domes have been left 'undecorated'...so that they might be completed by later generations (hopefully!). Even in this state, this cathedral is magnificent and well worth a visit.
